Biden receives Secret Service protection

e how Biden's wife reacted to protestors rushing stage 02:05

(CNN)Former Vice President Joe Biden received Secret Service protection starting Tuesday, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
The development comes with Biden knocked off the campaign trail amid concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, instead holding online events for voters and donors.

"The U.S. Secret Service can confirm Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad F. Wolf, along with the Congressional Advisory Committee has authorized that the Secret Service provide physical protection for presidential candidate, former vice president Joseph Biden," a Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement. "As a matter of practice and for operational security reasons, the Secret Service does not discuss our protectees, protective means, methods and or protective responsibilities."
Biden's Secret Service code name will be "Celtic," according to two sources familiar with matter, which was his code name as vice president.

Biden's campaign would not confirm that he is receiving Secret Service protection or comment on the matter.
"We do not comment on security measures," said TJ Ducklo, a spokesman for Biden.
Former vice presidents receive protection for six months after they leave office, which means Biden's Secret Service protection ended in mid-2017.
On the campaign trail, Biden has consistently had private security nearby, and larger venues for campaign rallies like high school gymnasiums often have local police or private security on hand as well.

that PART of my bloodline is Irish, Scottish, Welsh & Manx. Here's the surprisingly common twist, (at least here in the America), I'm "African American", Well, mostly? Kinda...lol! My mom's mother was a natural redhead, as in MAUREEN O'HARA red. GGreatpa Will was married to GGrammy Melissa, who was metis, she was at least 50% mikosukee & was black as a moonless night, BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL. Had hair that was almost ANKLE length UNSTRAIGHTENED.

You'd be surprised at the numbers of Black folks who have ALOT of Celtic Blood flowing in their veins. I literally don't know ANY African Americans whose family has been here at least 120 years who have Irish &/or Scottish blood. Right glad tameetcha, Demsrule86. Hope to get to know you more. I've decided to learn Irish Gaelic. My GGrandfather spoke it fluently, though my grandmother & her 11 siblings never learned it. I did, however find out that my mom & her 2 exant siblings, (at that time before my Aunt was born), did NOT speak English as children but MIXTEC! This was right after my mom passed away suddenly. I knew we had ALOT of family in Oaxaca state & HAVE had them since before Slavery was defeated here but mom never told me about that. Anyway, it's nice to read someone who seems to know more than the average American about Celtic history & culture...

My hubs family immigrated in the late 40's...he is the youngest in a long line of siblings...His Mom ran away from home to marry his Dad...her family were Methodists and did not approve his 'wild' ways (playing cards, dancing and the drink). Celtic history is fascinating regardless of whether you have a drop of Celtic blood IMHO...and it is full of magic as well.

And newly arrived immigrants went with the flow.

There is a small city in Kentucky near Lexington named in honor of the French help in the revolution spelled Versailles. It is universally pronounced Ver-Sails. When a real Kentuckian pronounces it they really stress the two syllables of Sails. So it is pronounced Ver-sa-ills. Most hick sounding thing I had ever heard when I moved there for college. I actually asked about it using the French pronunciation and was asked what I was talking about. As a Louisianan I was horrified.
