Could be a rumor. I tend to give more credence to those with verified accounts and work for legitimate news outlets.

(3,696 posts)He's my first choice. I think a Biden+Kamala or Biden+Beto ticket would be formidable. I fear if Biden doesn't run the field will continue to be splintered with only Sanders able to capture 20%+ of the vote.

(7,447 posts)it's now or never for him, he really doesn't have anything to lose.
It's not like if he's not nominated it will somehow destroy his career or reputation.

(59,503 posts)he has had over a long career. If he is not nominated, I don't think it will diminish him if he runs the high class high road campaign we all would expect from him. Unlike Clinton 2008, who was not hurt by losing, he is unlikely to want a place in the President's cabinet. Secretary of State was something he wanted back in 2004, but if anything, it might be physically harder than being President.
However, a given if he runs is that anything in his past or problems in his family will be opened up in the primaries and - of course - in the general election if he is nominated. That is true for absolutely everyone. He had a little taste of what that would mean in 2015 when he sent out some tentative feelers. Anyone here at that time would have seen the articles that spoke of his gaffes, his chairing the Clarence Thomas hearings, his sponsoring of many of the bankruptcy bills, etc. As he makes his decision, I assume he is having someone do "opposition research" on him - so he both knows what is likely to come out and to develop responses to them. For a man in his mid 70s, who is currently respected both as a statesman and a person, this will be a choice between jumping back into "combat" or staying in the comfortable place he is in.
One thing that observation says to me is that IF he jumps in it will probably be because he sees that the country is at risk and he is best positioned to save it. Obviously, there is also the desire to be President -- that apparently once seriously entertained tends not to go away.

(16,887 posts)I have long believed it will be either a Harris/Biden ticket or Biden/Harris ticket....the 2nd one being more likely because of the sexist racist nature of our country....
But I believe either would be fantastic and would help put our country back on the right track and heal it....
I see Biden entering as great news....
