It may just be that Democrats, having suffered through part of Trump's first term as President, want some stability and experience in the White House from their nominee. Maybe people are looking for less drama than we've experienced recently.

Frankly, it's not the active, highly political Democrats who end up electing Presidents. If that were the case, Republicans would probably remain in power. Instead, it's the average Democratic voter who ends up deciding.

That Biden is doing as well as he appears to be, even before announcing his candidacy seems to bolster that point of view.

We had plenty of drama in the last presidential election and the primaries that led up to it. Maybe too much, really. Perhaps Democrats are looking right now for a less dramatic candidate with less hoopla surrounding him or her. Perhaps we need a break from the drama.

That's my guess, as I watch the early activity, long before the first caucuses and primaries. I suspect that a Biden announcement is going to be very welcome to a vast number of Democrats out there. Stability and lack of drama may be just the thing we need for 2020. Trump has worn everyone out thoroughly.

A ticket headed by someone like Biden, with a VP choice who is a promising, up-and-coming phenomenon might just be the right answer for a decisive win in 2020, both for the White House and Congress.

That's what I'm thinking these days. People might just be saying, "Turn down the volume a little, OK?"

Stability, trust and an experienced hand will be needed to get this train back on track. Biden fills those requirements and has--at this moment--a strong and essential electability quotient. He can take it to the Trumpster. With a young, up-an-coming VP, he can also be perceived as a candidate looking towards the future of the country and the Party. Despite his age, Joe Biden still has juice and credibility among staunch Democrats. There's a yearning for normalcy, sanity.

Now, it's up to Uncle Joe to make that final decision: To be or not to be.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Feb 2019

Poll results might be what causes him to pull the trigger. He needs to believe that a run could be successful, since he will have to expend a lot of energy. That's something we old geezers don't have an excess of, so we sort of insist on making our energy go in a possible direction.

But, the signs are there on his side. I think we'll hear from him shortly about his run for the Presidency. I can't say exactly when, but I think he's going to do it.

If he does, I'll be changing from Undecided to Biden. I think he can win in a big, big way.
