NEW YORK (May 3, 2019) – MSNBC announced today the premiere of “Saturday Night Politics with Donny Deutsch” on Saturday May 4th at 8 p.m. ET. The new program is part of MSNBC’s expansion of programming on the weekends.

“Saturday Night Politics,” hosted by NBC News and MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch, will feature one-on-one interviews with politicians and newsmakers, including an interview with Pete Buttigieg to air this Saturday. The program draws from Deutsch’s decades-long experience in marketing, advertising and political consulting to explore the most effective messaging and strategies of presidential candidates and how they are presenting themselves to American voters.

This announcement comes on the heels of MSNBC’s weekend total day (Sa-Su 6am-6am) win over CNN in total viewers for the 3rd consecutive month. Additionally, year-to-date for 2019, MSNBC leads CNN in total viewers during Saturday prime (8-11pm).

3. Donny Deutsch to launch new show with Buttigieg interview

MSNBC announced Friday it will launch a new show, “Saturday Night Politics with Donny Deutsch,” as part of the network's expansion of weekend programming.

Deutsch will feature an interview with South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democratic contender, on his inaugural show Saturday.

Deutsch is most often seen on the network's "Morning Joe" with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

The 61-year-old Queens, N.Y. native is a staunch critic of President Trump, often leveling personal attacks on him. During a recent roundtable discussion on the show, Deutsch mocked the president's appearance, calling him one of the most "repulsive physically-looking humans I’ve ever seen."
