I had to look up the buttons' skit in the last listed SNL video. I can't swear that the explanation provided in the link below is factually accurate, but it does satisfy my need to understand the origin and arc of this button mythology. At my house, when a blouse becomes a rag, I strip off any attractive buttons and add them to my collection of potentially reusable buttons. I don't reuse them. (I am posting because I have insomnia due to a back ache. Once the Tylenol kicks in, I'll try to get a bit more sleep. Have a great Sunday, DUers!)
