Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) - 5/3/24

I apologize that there are so few "official" videos available, this practice by HBO appears to have started last month. If any are uploaded in the meantime, I'll definitely add them. But I wanted to share what's available before the "bootleg" videos are gone.

Monologue: Decision Day

Bill reacts to the top stories of the week, including nationwide college protests and Governor Kristi Noem's dog-shooting scandal.

New Rule: Attorney Genial

When Democrats have to choose a top lawman, they worry so much about appearing non-partisan that they pick someone who lets actual crimes go unpunished.

Overtime: Kellyanne Conway, Joshua Green

Bill and his guests continue their conversation after the show.

Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes the entire interview with Roger Daltrey, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, co-founder, and frontman for the rock band The Who. (6:38); entire panel discussion with Kellyanne Conway, former senior counselor to the former president, Fox News contributor, and author of the New York Times best seller, Here's the Deal: A Memoir; and Joshua Green, Bloomberg Businessweek national correspondent and author of The Rebels: Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and the Struggle for a New American Politics (18:15); Bill's "funny bit" (31:26); and the opening part of New Rules (45:38). It won't last long, as usual:

2. Agreed, the monologue was longer than usual and Roger Daltry was a treat to see

And I also agree about Kellyanne Conway, she always dominates the panel, surprised she was invited back. When I told my friend about tonight's guests, he made the suggestion that George Conway should have been the other member of the panel - definitely more interesting.

5. Great idea about George Conway. Might pay double to see that. The other guy tonight just wasn't up

to task with Conway. I’ve seen him before, but not that familiar with him.

Adjusting for Conway’s negative impact, it was a good show, with the usual cringes and groans.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Daltry except in videos of band. Seems like a decent guy/bloke. Loved the explanation of the album cover, and Maher’s retort, “always competing.”

6. I'd certainly love to have seen Conway vs. Conway, more entertaining than Kellyanne with anyone else!

And I agree about Roger Daltry, he does sound like a decent guy who now wants to give back. And it was an interesting discussion, Bill Maher was definitely a fan which made it one of the high points of the show.

4. Agreed, and as was mentioned, what would have happened if McConnell hadn't blocked Obama's Supreme Court pick??

McConnell enabled TFG in so many ways despite his claim that he opposes most of his "policies."

8. Agreed, I liked the monologue and the Roger Daltry interview, but sorry that Kellyanne Conway was back

She tends to talk over everyone else. My friend said that George Conway should have been her partner on the panel.

9. Had to skip the panel, Conway just never shuts up

as she Gish gallops over everybody else, one lie after another.

Good New Rules, though. Garland might have made a decent USSC justice, I don't know, slow deliberation wouldn't hurt in that job. He sucks as an AG and his resignation should have been requested some time ago. Or maybe he should have realized just how out of his depth he was and quit gracefully.

Please, Pres. Biden, I'm begging you, give him a hearty handshake and a gold (plated) watch. It's time.

10. I certainly agree with you about Kellyanne Conway, she should have been paired with someone tougher on the panel.

And I blame McConnell for blocking Obama's Supreme Court pick, posted a video containing a series of interviews with him a couple of days ago and, despite his criticisms of TFG, he constantly dismisses questions about him, only says "it's not my job."
