GODDAMMIT TO HELL!!!

I just examined a baby who was following up on a hospital visit due to physical abuse. Sweetest, most angelic thing you've ever seen. And a face covered with bruises and abrasions. I swear, sometimes I want to commit murder.

She's with a very nice foster mother right now. The guy who did it is in the slam. And the baby is safe. But I just about lost it in front of her foster mother. (No, wait; I did lose it; had to turn away for a few seconds...)

The exam went well; she's well-fed, not skittish or anything, and she was smiling at me by the time I was done.

But I'm reminded of the line from George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four": 'The urge to shout a stream of profanities at the top of his lungs was stronger than ever.'

William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day is postponed until this evening.

Have to work Saturday Clinic today.

I asked Will if he could handle this one himself, seeing as how it's, you know, his own work and stuff.

He replied: "Can't, mate. I'm to Stratford. The huzziff and children await."

Always an excuse...

I scored a day off. Anybody want to hang out?

I'm gonna hang for a while, and then take myself out for a nice breakfast.

Having some roast fowl and ale with Will Shakespeare. Ask us anything.

Rough day in GD today. Got ripped up one side and down the other by defenders of smokers' rights. Tough crowd. I need a drink...

How is everyone tonight?

Working late at the office tonight. How's everybody doing?

Clinic was pretty smooth today, but oh man! My last patient was a new guy establishing care. I don't know when I've seen a more forlorn or bedraggled person. The only word that occurred to me was 'wretched'. An old-fashioned word not used much anymore, but it sure applied to him. Made me want to cry almost.

I addressed his medical concern, and we'll be able to get him the treatment he needs. He seemed satisfied with that; but for the whole visit, he looked at if he had never had a friend in the world. Some people just have 'sad' faces, I guess, but his was one of the saddest.

Hold me...
