Aristus
Aristus's JournalI didn't watch the SOTU because I knew the repukes would be disrespectful to President Biden.
And I was right...
The adults deserted the GOP decades ago, and left their snotty, bone-stupid, badly-behaved, unsocialized brats behind...
Any word yet on the veracity of the story of the Ghost of Kyiv?
The Ukrainian MiG pilot who allegedly shot down six Russian jets, including a few that were technologically superior, and then disappeared.
Haven't heard any more for a couple of days. It may just be one of those tales that is told in times of war.
But what a great story if it's true.
A jet can't just disappear, though. It has to go somewhere for refueling, re-arming, and maintenance. Practical concerns like that means we'll either hear about this intrepid pilot soon, or find out the whole thing was an exaggeration.
Makes this old tanker enormously proud.
There are unconfirmed reports that American tank crewmen and tank mechanics are getting on to Twitter to tell Ukrainian defenders how to disable Russian tanks.
In tanker school, the merits and weaknesses of presumed enemy tanks were drummed into us over and over, the better to set up a disabling or killing shot on the tank gun. Good information to share right now.
It's kind of funny; I trained as a tanker towards the end of the Cold War, when it was assumed that any enemy we faced in battle would be fielding Soviet-made tanks, and any allies we had would be using Western-built tanks. We trained rigorously in tank recognition for this reason.
Then the Gulf War came along, and we had to face the fact that at least one ally, Syria, would be using Soviet-made tanks like the T-62, while our enemy Iraq, in addition to operating huge numbers of various Soviet tank models, also used Western-made tanks like the American M-60 and the British Chieftain.
Friday Night Gin And Tonic Buzz. Ask me anything.
To the people of Ukraine!
Give them strength and spirit
No more Russian Standard vodka for a while.
Fortunately, there are many excellent Finnish, Scandinavian, and Polish vodkas out there. Plus, Smirnoff, which is owned by a British company.
SPOILER for "The Book Of Boba Fett":
I'm so happy!
Mando and Baby Yoda (yes, I know his real name) are back together! I cried when they were reunited! I blubbered like a baby. I'm so glad they're back together. When they were separated at the end of "The Mandalorian", my heart broke for Din Djarin.
Mrs. Aristus is at her knitting convention for the first time in three years.
Strict mask policies and social distancing suggestions, and recommendations to get vaccinated and boostered. So she feels safe there.
These were the times when I used to slam a joint and get wasted for the day, knowing I'd be back on Earth in time to go back and drive her home.
Not anymore. With our grandson living with us now, I have to be a little more abstemious...
Friday Night Gin and Tonic Buzz. Ask me anything.
I love you all
Hella day in clinic today
Fourteen tests at the clinic for COVID-19 in the last two days. All negative.
Is it possible we're finally getting out of Mirkwood?
Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.
I remember in the early days of DU, people would post "Ask me anything" threads in order to jack their post count.
I just do it because I love talking to y'all.
Enjoying a nice vodka and tonic after a very nice, encouraging day in clinic.
I love you all...
