Some things of note:

In the letter from the State Dept. to Judicial Watch on April 18, 2016:

Also, upon further review, the Department has determined that one document previously withheld in full in our letter dated November 12, 2014 may now be released in part.

An enclosure explains the FOIA exemptions and other grounds for withholding material. Where we have made excisions, the applicable FOIA exemptions are marked on each document. For the five documents withheld in full, we have cited FOIA Exemption 5, 5 U.S.C. § 552 (b)(5). In some cases, two or more exemptions may apply to the same document. All non-exempt material that is reasonably segregable from the exempt material has been released. All released material is enclosed.

The letter is signed by Eric F. Stein, Acting Co-Director of the Office of Information Programs and Services at the U. S. Department of State.

Interestingly, the Exemption 5, 552 (b)(5) refers to 'interagency or intra-agency communications forming part of the deliberative process, attorney-client privilege, or attorney work product.'

Concerning close adviser Sidney Blumenthal, perhaps, where she is 'the attorney'? The guy that Obama banned from any capacity at State? The one that SOS Clinton relied on anyway for 'interesting' intel from Libya, for example?

To cite another striking example, Mr. Blumenthal sent then-Secretary of State Ms. Clinton reports on the political situation in Libya written by a former senior CIA officer, the recently deceased Tyler Drumheller. Those reports, which Mr. Blumenthal emailed to her in 2011 and 2012, apparently were intended to influence American policy toward Libya in a way favorable to a business project with which Mr. Blumenthal and Mr. Drumheller were involved.

Yeah, that Sid Blumenthal.

And here is the withheld email that is under scrutiny, written September 29, 2012.

It's nearly 100% redacted, but clearly visible is Clinton's private email address, 'hdr22@clintonemail.com' .

This is going to end up being the least of her problems. Why she expects this country to continue to carry all of this crushing Clinton baggage into the White House for another era of turmoil is both unthinkable and profoundly dismaying.

It's time we moved beyond this morass and chart a new course for our country.

State Dept. Withheld Key Email From Clinton’s Private Server in FOIA Lawsuit

Source: LawNewz

The State Department has now acknowledged that it withheld a key Benghazi e-mail in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed in July 2014. The State Department acknowledged finding the e-mail in 2014, but it was withheld in its entirety until last week.

This latest admission comes in a FOIA lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a conservative legal watchdog group, that seeks records related to the drafting and use of the Benghazi talking points. According to Judicial Watch, it contradicts an earlier admission made by the State Department in the same lawsuit. In a letter dated April 18, 2016, the State Department writes:

.....
.....

The document in question is an e-mail from then Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan addressed to Hillary Clinton concerning Benghazi talking points to be used in discussions with Senators. Although redacted almost in its entirety, the e-mail is important because it contains Clinton’s private e-mail server address, hdr22@clintonemail.com. Had the State Department disclosed the e-mail at the time of the 2014 FOIA request, it would have exposed Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server to conduct official State Department business in the early fall of 2014. The timing is significant because the disclosure would have occurred several months before the Clinton campaign says she deleted several thousand “personal” e-mails.

.....

As LawNewz.com previously reported, U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth was the second federal judge to grant discovery to Judicial Watch in a FOIA lawsuit. In his order, Judge Lamberth found discovery was appropriate due to the “evidence of government wrong-doing and bad faith” on behalf of the State Department in the manner in which they responded to these FOIA requests.

You are The Man, Octafish.

Truth.

And Hillary Clinton's support base is also as bogus as that September 11 "report" we've been fed for years, in addition to George W. Bush's imperialistic war on Iraq that she and the rest of the militaristic hawks and sniveling cowards voted for.

As I noted in that thread, and I'll repost here, because, for me, it is clearer every day that passes:

Octafish, I don't know exactly where I was when I first figured out that we, the people, have been had, and had for many decades. Was it the Election 2000 debacle in Florida?

Was it during the duplicity, scandal, false feel-goodism and systematic deterioration of Democratic ideals during the Clinton years of the 1990s?

Was it during Poppy Bush's invasion of Iraq in the early 1990s, killing many thousands of Iraqis, and leading to Dim Son's next invasion of Iraq in 2003, followed by the primal scream of watching another Bush trying to buy his way into power in 2016?

Was it watching the snakes slither away from Iran-Contra crimes, as Poppy pardoned the bunch on Christmas Eve, 1992?

Was it during the murderous years of Reagan in the 80s?

Was it watching the textile mills close down in the South and shipping all those jobs to faraway lands, and forcing many of our southern families into abject poverty?

Was it during the darkness of the Nixon/Viet Nam era?

Was it during the horror and sorrow of losing John F. Kennedy in 1963?

I don't know any more. All I know now is that we probably have one more chance to get back onto the right path to survival into history, and that is to propel Bernie Sanders into power.

Octafish, for the past decade and a half here, you've been slicing and dicing the BFEE, and unearthing the Truth for all of us here, and your efforts to inform have spread farther than you know. 'Thank you' just seems inadequate. But, again, thank you.

You are a friend to us all.

'There will be no one to stop her if she is elected President, surrounded by....

...neocon advisers.'

Yes, Hillary Clinton Is a Neocon, April 16, 2016

......

Though President Obama should know better – and I’m told that he does know better – he has succumbed this time to pressure to go along with what he calls the Washington “playbook” of saber-rattling and militarism. NATO is moving more and more combat troops up to the Russian border while Washington has organized punishing economic sanctions aimed at disrupting the Russian economy.

Hillary Clinton appears fully onboard with the neocon goal of grabbing the Big Enchilada, “regime change” in Moscow. Rather than seeing the world as it is, she continues to look through the wrong end of the telescope in line with all the anti-Russian propaganda and the demonization of Putin, whom Clinton has compared to Hitler.

Supporting NATO’s military buildup on Russia’s border, Clinton said, “With Russia being more aggressive, making all kinds of intimidating moves toward the Baltic countries, we’ve seen what they’ve done in eastern Ukraine, we know how they want to rewrite the map of Europe, it is not in our interests [to reduce U.S. support for NATO]. Think of how much it would cost if Russia’s aggression were not deterred because NATO was there on the front lines making it clear they could not move forward.”

Though Clinton’s anti-Russian delusions are shared by many powerful people in Official Washington, they are no more accurate than the other claims about Iraq’s WMD, Gaddafi passing out Viagra to his troops, the humanitarian need to invade Syria, the craziness about Iran being the principal source of terrorism (when it is the Saudis, the Qataris, the Turks and other Sunni powers that have bred Al Qaeda and the Islamic State), and the notion that the Palestinians are the ones picking on the Israelis, not the other way around.

However, Clinton’s buying into the neocon propaganda about Russia may be the most dangerous – arguably existential – threat that a Clinton presidency would present to the world. Yes, she may launch U.S. military strikes against the Syrian government (which could open the gates of Damascus to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State); yes, she might push Iran into renouncing the nuclear agreement (and putting the Israeli/neocon goal to bomb-bomb-bomb-Iran back on the table); yes, she might make Obama’s progressive critics long for his more temperate presidency.

But Clinton’s potential escalation of the new Cold War with Russia could be both the most costly and conceivably the most suicidal feature of a Clinton-45 presidency. Unlike her times as Secretary of State, when Obama could block her militaristic schemes, there will be no one to stop her if she is elected President, surrounded by likeminded neocon advisers.

Our fate as a nation will be sealed if this catastrophic ideology forces its way into the White House in November, and this time, with nothing to stop the ruinous and inevitable consequences.

There are glaring reasons why so many people distrust Hillary Clinton's judgment.

If the dark, war-loving forces behind her manage to propel her into power, there will be no do-overs.

There will be only enormous regret and despair. And not only by Americans.

Former FPL manager accused of trading nuclear secrets in Chinese spy case

Source: Tampa Bay Times

TALLAHASSEE — A former Florida Power & Light manager traded nuclear information from the company for cash to assist one of China's top nuclear power companies, according to federal court records unsealed in Tennessee last week.

The unnamed former FPL employee was recruited by Szuhsiung Ho, also known as Allen Ho, to help China General Nuclear Power Co. develop special nuclear material in China, according to the grand jury indictment unsealed April 14 in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Ho, a Delaware resident and naturalized U.S. citizen, is a nuclear engineer employed by China General Nuclear Power. The indictment charges Ho and his Delaware-based company, Energy Technology International, with two counts — conspiracy to unlawfully produce special nuclear material outside the United States and acting as an agent of a foreign government while in the United States.

.....

In 2004, the former FPL manager allegedly provided Ho with Florida Power & Light information "regarding nuclear power plant outage times" for use at China General's Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant in exchange for payment.

"Daya Bay hopes you can bring them as many paper reports and documents as you could ..." the indictment says Ho wrote the former FPL manager on March 17, 2004.

Add another reason, among many, that FPL is perhaps the most despised company in Florida.

The Bernie Sanders Miracle: American Crowd in Brooklyn Cheers Palestinian Dignity, April 15, 2016

In my opinion, to rectify this one foreign policy issue, alone, would do more to promote world peace than just about any other single undertaking.

New Yorkers, show us what you can do on this front, on Tuesday!

The Bernie Sanders Miracle: American Crowd in Brooklyn Cheers Palestinian Dignity

Juan Cole, yesterday:

The Democratic debate in Brooklyn last night took an unusual turn when a grumpy old Jewish American upbraided a slightly younger Illinois Methodist for not respecting the dignity of the Palestinian people.

BLITZER (Used to work for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobby) : . . . Senator, let’s talk about the U.S. relationship with Israel. Senator Sanders, you maintained that Israel’s response in Gaza in 2014 was, quote, “disproportionate and led to the unnecessary loss of innocent life.”

(APPLAUSE)

What do you say to those who believe that Israel has a right to defend itself as it sees fit?

SANDERS [former kubbutznik, i.e. left wing Zionist annoyed by the rise of the far right wing Likud Party]: Well, as somebody who spent many months of my life when I was a kid in Israel, who has family in Israel, of course Israel has a right not only to defend themselves, but to live in peace and security without fear of terrorist attack. That is not a debate.

(APPLAUSE)

But — but what you just read, yeah, I do believe that. Israel was subjected to terrorist attacks, has every right in the world to destroy terrorism. But we had in the Gaza area — not a very large area — some 10,000 civilians who were wounded and some 1,500 who were killed.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Free Palestine!

SANDERS: Now, if you’re asking not just me, but countries all over the world was that a disproportionate attack, the answer is that I believe it was, and let me say something else.

(APPLAUSE) (CHEERING)

SANDERS: And, let me say something else. As somebody who is 100% pro-Israel, in the long run — and this is not going to be easy, God only knows, but in the long run if we are ever going to bring peace to that region which has seen so much hatred and so much war, we are going to have to treat the Palestinian people with respect and dignity.

(APPLAUSE) (CHEERING)

SANDERS: So what is not to say — to say that right now in Gaza, right now in Gaza unemployment is s somewhere around 40%. You got a log of that area continues, it hasn’t been built, decimated, houses decimated health care decimated, schools decimated. I believe the United States and the rest of the world have got to work together to help the Palestinian people.

That does not make me anti-Israel. That paves the way, I think…

BLITZER: … Thank you, Senator…

SANDERS: …to an approach that works in the Middle East.

Juan Cole again:

The Israeli propaganda line is that the Palestinians are natural, intrinsic terrorists who are always attacking Israelis out of blind hatred for Jews and who casually deploy terrorism on a mass scale and refuse to recognize the inexorability and naturalness of several million European and North African and other Jews living in Palestine.

Perhaps Sen. Sanders would not agree with what I am going to say. But this narrative ignores that in 1800 there were virtually no Jews in Palestine. It ignores that the Jewish settlers in British Mandate Palestine derailed British plans for a Palestinian state by 1949 (as put forward in the 1939 White Paper), in accordance with all the other Class A Mandates established at and after the Versailles Peace Conference that ended World War I. That is, the French Mandate of Syria became Syria and Syrians have Syrian citizenship, the British Mandate of Iraq became Iraq and Iraqis have Iraqi citizenship. Even Class B Mandates became independent countries and their inhabitants became citizens– Tanganyika became Tanzania and Zanzibar, Ruanda-Urundi became Rwanda and Burundi. Why did not the Mandate of Palestine result in a state of Palestine in which the Palestinians were citizens?

It was because the Jewish settlers let in by British Mandate authorities over the objections of the native Palestinians (whose families had lived there since time immemorial) who conducted an ethnic cleansing campaign in 1947-1948 and expelled 720,000 Palestinians out of 1.2 million, then declared Israel and locked the refugees out. Many of those refugees were forced to crowd into refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, where they still huddle, penniless and displaced and besieged permanently by the Israelis.

Map of Palestinian nationhood:

(via Juan Cole)

In an earlier piece by Cole, he discusses these maps in detail as he lays out historical events of the Mandates that were created in the wake of World War I, which, under the League of Nations, evolved into separate nations including Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine. This is essential reading.

Cole further explains:

Part of what Sen. Sanders likely means by Palestinian dignity is that you can’t have dignity as a human being in the modern world if you don’t have the right of citizenship in a state. Palestinians are deprived of that dignity. There are likely only about 12 million stateless people in the world, and Palestinians are the largest single such group. Not only do Palestinians not have a state and not only are they therefore left without the basic human rights that come with citizenship, they labor under Israeli military occupation

Israel is actively depriving the Palestinians of the right to be citizens of a state. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu actually ran on this platform in the last election in Israel, and won on it.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (whose campaign in part is being funded by billionaire cartoonist Haim Saban, a virulent opponent of Palestinian rights and investor in squatter settlements in the West Bank) responded that Israel withdrew from Gaza (which it occupied in 1967) in 2005, but then was subjected to thousands of rocket attacks, and had no choice but to attack Gaza.

She also alleged that Hamas uses human shields and that therefore Israelis have no choice but to kill women and children.

Neither of these allegations is true. Even if they were, you’re not allowed deliberately to kill women and children and innocent non-combatants in order to get at the enemy.

Israel did not actually withdraw from Gaza. It retains 1/3 of Gaza land as a buffer zone, and routinely shoots Palestinian farmers who own that land and try to farm it. It denies Gaza an airport and a seaport. It even routinely shoots Gaza fishermen. It controls the major checkpoint. It coerces Egypt (with a standing threat of violence) into policing the Rafah checkpoint on the Sinai. It keeps Gaza Palestinians in a large outdoor concentration camp. In a particularly evil and creepy move, the Israeli military even set a calorie limit for Palestinians, including Palestinian children, in Gaza (a limit it has been embarrassed into lifting). Gaza is still occupied, and the UN recognizes Israel as the occupying authority, which lays all the obligations of the Geneva Convention of 1949 on the Israeli state with regard to nurturing the welfare of the people living under its occupation.

Sen. Sanders’ statistics give a good indication of whether Israel is fulfilling its duties under the Geneva Conventions (Conventions that were intended to forestall any more Axis-like aggression and war crimes).

.....

The biggest problem is actually the future of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Are you going to keep them under Occupation forever? Are you going to push them into the Mediterranean and give Europe millions more refugees?

Notice how @HillaryClinton says Palestinian "autonomy" not independence-she's echoing Bibi

— Peter Beinart (@PeterBeinart) April 15, 2016

It has been clear for some years that the far-right Likud government’s policies are unacceptable to most Americans, including to most Jewish Americans. Our political class and the AIPAC lobbyists have tried to obscure this truth just as they obscure climate change.

In response to Sen. Sanders’s comments, Jewish Voice for Peace issued this statement:

Rebecca Vilkomerson, Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace: “It was heartening to hear the beginning of a much needed conversation about Israel’s disproportionate use of force against Palestinians in Gaza during the Democratic debate tonight. Today showed that the movement for Palestinian rights is shifting the discourse at the highest political levels. However, there is still a long way to go before we see our political leaders take courageous steps not just to recognize the humanity of Palestinians but to take action to secure their rights.”

What Sen. Sanders is saying is that the status quo is not sustainable. Sen. Sanders is right.

And he has the moral courage to stand up for the downtrodden in a way we have not seen in modern-day politicians in this country.

It is time for a new direction in our country and in our foreign policy, led by Bernie Sanders.

Verizon Lawyer Hits Striking Employees with His Porsche: Union

Source: Telesur

Around 40,000 Verizon employees went on strike Thursday, and two of them were struck by a member of management driving a luxury sports car, according to their union.

According to the Communications Workers of America, two members of the union in Gaithersburg, Maryland, "were hit by a Verizon management attorney driving his Porsche." One of those struck was not seriously hit, "but the second was taken to the hospital." Their status is currently unknown.

Another incident involving a Verizon manager and their car allegedly took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There the manager "had a confrontation with a police officer and ignored the officer's direction to stop," according to the union. "The manager tried to drive away but was later arrested."

Asked for comment, a Verizon spokesperson denied the incidents took place.

.....

However, a photograph posted on the union's website shows Gaithersburg police surrounding a black, two-door Porsche.

Verizon employees are striking to protest proposed cuts to their health and pension benefits. The company, which sells internet, television and phone service, has been attempting to negotiate a new contract with its employees since June 2015. The last contract expired in August 2015.

Bernie Sanders meets Bolivia's president Evo Morales at the Vatican

Bolivia’s Evo Morales Impressed by Sanders Anti-Capitalism

Bolivian President Evo Morales opened a new Twitter account today, and celebrated his meeting with U.S. presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

"The anti-capitalist stance of U.S. Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders impressed me," Morales' tweet begins. "I recommended that he take of himself," the tweet concluded, presumably alluding to the threatening forces of capitalist imperialism headquartered on Wall Street, Sanders' frequent target in speeches.

The two left-wing leaders met during a conference in Vatican City, the topic of which was economic justice.

Sanders delivered a speech calling for a "Moral Economy."

"That situation is worse today. In the year 2016, the top 1 percent of the people on this planet own more wealth than the bottom 99 percent," the self-described democratic socialist said. "At a time when so few have so much, and so many have so little, we must reject the foundations of this contemporary economy as immoral and unsustainable."

The tweet also featured a photo of Morales handing Sanders a copy of the "The Book of the Sea," which details Chile's counter-revolutionary actions against Bolivia regarding the Andean nation's access to the Atlantic coastline.

That is the face of trust.

Bernie Sanders has gone global.

Attorney Kendall possessed a thumb drive of her potentially classified emails in his office.....

Doubtful that "attorney-client privilege" would hold water, now that she's called him back into service for her next round of criminal inquiries. Doesn't sound like a "security review" to me either, Fawke Em.

Longtime Clinton Attorney Now Representing Hillary in FBI’s Criminal Probe, April 15, 2016

But unequivocally, what thrust him most into the (unwanted?) spotlight was his defense of the Clintons over the last two decades. According to a 1998 Washington Post article that detailed the key players in President Clinton’s Lewinsky scandal, Kendall certainly has his critics:

Second-guessing Kendall has become a bloodsport in Washington where some of his fellow lawyers fault Kendall for not having Clinton come forward earlier with the truth about Lewinsky, for letting him testify … They also blame Kendall for pursuing a legalistic argument — that receiving oral sex did not constitute a sexual relationship — that has proved widely unpalatable.

Last year, he ran into media scrutiny again when he kept a thumb drive that contained potentially classified emails from Clinton’s private server at his law firm.

“In most situations like this you’d expect that a warrant would be issued and the Marshals and the feds, FBI, somebody would go and get the thumb rive and take it somewhere where it would be considered safe by the government,” national security attorney Edward MacMahnon Jr. told Fox News back in August.

Yes, you'd think.

Fast forward to 2016:

I am 100 percent confident (that the probe will not become criminal),” the former secretary of State said in a Democratic presidential debate last week. “This is a security review requested and carried out that will be resolved.”

Univision debate moderator Jorge Ramos confronted Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Wednesday over her email scandal, directly asking her if she would drop out of the race for her party's nomination if she were indicted.

"If you get indicted, will you drop out?" he asked her.

The former secretary of state refused to answer the question.

"Oh, for goodness," she started when Ramos pressed her on the issue after she initially danced around it. "It's not going to happen. I'm not even answering that question."

Comey has repeatedly attempted to shoot down concerns about political motivation in his bureau’s probe and fears that investigators will undermine evidence against Clinton or another Obama administration official.

“I hope the American people know the FBI well enough and the nature and character of this organization,” Comey told the Senate panel on Wednesday.

“As I’ve said many times, we don’t give a rip about politics,” he added. “We care about finding out what is true and doing that in a competent, honest and independent way. I promise you that’s the way we conduct ourselves.”
