Kind of NAZI.

For details on eugenics and America's leading, read Edwin Black, author of "IBM and the Holocaust" and "War against the Weak."

Houston cops even killed one of Poppy's friends.

What happened to Mr. Baker seems like cold blooded murder. Looking for a robbery suspect? So, why shoot him dead?

The tragedy brings up the Houston Police Department's cold blooded killing of Roland Carnaby, a very well connected friend of George Herbert Walker Bush. The guy was pulled over, flashed CIA credentials and hopped in his SUV, leading the police on a high speed chase. He stopped the car and started to get out of the car. The poor guy never had a chance to explain why, as they opened up on him. "We thought he had a gun."

Liberal Etymology

Latin, "Liber," A Free Man.

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=liberal

Guess they've forgotten what that means.

Something they probably never knew:

"Liber" in Latin also means "Book."

So...Knowledge means Freedom.

CIA blamed Philip Agee for outting one its agents CIA had previously outted...

...the agent, Richard Welch, was murdered outside his residence in Athens.

At the time, the Pike and Church committees were exposing CIA criminality to the nation and world.

Once the poor agent was killed, Poppy Bush, then head of CIA, got the assets in the press to echo how whistleblower Philip Agee had named and exposed the CIA man.

The fact of the matter was, while he had outted other CIA agents publicly, Agee never mentioned Mr. Welch.

What did happen, the resulting media firestorm about the "outting" led Congress to shut down its investigations of CIA PDQ. A couple of DUers tell the full story here.

I'll side with Helen Caldicott.

No offense. She sides with open government, you know, what's it called? Democracy, that's it.

One important reason for the reason wide range in the estimate is that much off the information has been withheld by TEPCO, as you probably know.

The link in my reply above also contains sources on plutonium research going back to the MANHATTAN Project. Unfortunately, much of the research on the subject since then is classified and, thus, unknown, or lost, to the public, or, in a democracy, the People who should be in charge.

Fo those new to the subject of the health effects of plutonium and secret nuclear testing, more eye opening info here:

NuclearCrimes.org.

Much of the most egregious criminality, you may notice, occurred in the 1950s, when the Dulles brothers ran the secret government in Washington to the benefit of their cronies on Wall Street.

One would think, just based on the SCALE of the disaster, it'd be on TV.

For some reason, no.

Here's the Putzmeister 58-meter boom pump truck seen at right in the photo above.

I think it's this one, based on a larger version of the photo:

Here's another image to give an idea how big the Fukushima containment buildings are:

It could be this one, flown in by a Soviet military transport-type aircraft:

Normally they pump concrete, but at Fukushima they were brought in and adapted to pump water into the spent fuel pools...located, way up, on the 10th floor.

Gosh, lonestarnot. For some dumb reason, my local newspaper, radio and tee vee station forgot to show us this comparo.

ETA: confusion.

Plutonium from Fukushima is a global catastrophe.

In these images, the building containing Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Reactor 3 explodes.
The thing ran on fuel rods that contain a mixture of plutonium and uranium oxide.

TEPCO has been lying from Day One. The company's boss continued his holiday driving tour the day of the disaster. On this side of the great ocean, the U.S. government has not done a very good job of keeping the public abreast of Fukushima and the dangers it represents. It fired Gregory Jaczko, the head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, after he pointed out the emergency in public.

One important thing everyone should know is the incredible amounts of plutonium -- one of the most deadly elements known -- that have been introduced into the environment from Fukushima.

Here's some more of what everyone on DU and around the entire planet should know:

DOE-STD-1128-98

Guide of Good Practices for Occupational Radiological Protection in Plutonium Facilities

EXCERPT...

4.2.3 Characteristics of Plutonium Contamination

There are few characteristics of plutonium contamination that are unique. Plutonium
contamination may be in many physical and chemical forms. (See Section 2.0 for the many
potential sources of plutonium contamination from combustion products of a plutonium fire
to radiolytic products from long-term storage.) The one characteristic that many believe is
unique to plutonium is its ability to migrate with no apparent motive force.
Whether from
alpha recoil or some other mechanism, plutonium contamination, if not contained or
removed, will spread relatively rapidly throughout an area.

Why I bring this is up: This is information about Fukushima and plutonium that people have a right to know, yet is what the press and governments of the United States and Japan apparently want people to forget. Thank goodness news and information aren't censored on DU.

Poppy Bush was like Caligula.

George Bush : the unauthorized biography

EXCERPT...

INTRODUCTION: American Caligula

The thesis of this book is simple: if George Bush were to be re- elected in November
1992 for a second term as the president of the United States, this country and the rest of
the world would face a catastrophe of gigantic proportions.

The necessity of writing this book became overwhelming in the minds of the authors in
the wake of the ghastly slaughter of the Iraq war of January- February 199 1 . That war was
an act of savage and premeditated genocide on the part of Bush, undertaken in
connivance with a clique in London which has, in its historical continuity, represented
both the worst enemy of the long-term interests of the American people, and the most
implacable adversary of the progress of the human species.

The authors observed George Bush very carefully as the Gulf crisis and the war unfolded,
and had no doubt that his enraged public outbursts constituted real psychotic episodes,
indicative of a deranged mental state that was full of ominous portent for humanity. The
authors were also horrified by the degree to which their fellow citizens willfully ignored
the shocking reality of these public fits. A majority of the American people proved more
than willing to lend its support to a despicable enterprise of killing.

By their role-call votes of January 12, 1991, the Senate and the House of Representatives
gave their authorization for Bush's planned and imminent war measures to restore the
Emir of Kuwait, who owns and holds chattel slaves. That vote was a crime against God's
justice.

This book is part of an attempt to help them to survive anyway, both for the sake of the
world and for their own sake. It is intended as a contribution to a process of education
that might still save the American people from the awesome destruction of a second Bush
presidency. It is further intended as a warning to all citizens that if they fail to deny Bush
a second term, they will deserve what they get after 1993.

As this book goes to press in the autumn of 1991, public awareness of the long-term
depression of the American economy is rapidly growing. If Bush were re-elected, he
would view himself as beyond the reach of the voters and the popular will; with the
federal deficit rising beyond a billion dollars a day, a second Bush administration would
dictate such crushing austerity as to bring the country to the brink of civil war. Some
harbingers of what might be coming are described in the last chapter of this book. Our
goal has been to assemble as much of the truth about Bush as possible within the time
constraints imposed by the 1992 election. Time and resources have not permitted us
meticulous attention to certain matters of detail; we can say, nevertheless, that both our
commitment to the truth and our final product are better than anything anyone else has
been able to muster, including news organizations and intelligence agencies with
capabilities that far surpass our own.

A great American.

The great DUer bobthedrummer explains:

The Pike Committee

After the Watergate "scandal" there were Congressional investigations into illegal activities by the intelligence and law enforcement communities because it is the duty to have Congressional oversight to protect and defend the rights of US citizens (aka we, the people).

We have a Congress today that is not going to hold accountable an administration that uses war as a policy, tortures, employs mercenaries, has a world-wide secret prison system, conducts massive illegal domestic surveillance, conducts domestic psychological warfare operations and God knows what else.

The oversight role of Congress (in a representational democracy, that=you and me) has been seriously negated. Previous and current suggested reforms of the intelligence and law enforcement communities have been continuously neutralized by an increased para-militarized and privatized component engaged in the administration's "war on terror".

This is a thread about the reforms recommended after the Watergate "scandal"-and a study on the forces that opposed them.

The post-Watergate Senate investigation was chaired by Senator Frank Church (D-Idaho) and known as The Church Committee-most of the various reports and documents from the Church Committee are declassified and available to the public, they have been cited/discussed here for years.

The House investigation began with controversy over leadership, Rep. Lucien Nedzi (D-Michigan) was replaced as Chairman after 5 months by Rep. Otis G. Pike (D-New York)-this House investigation became known as The Pike Committee.

Below are a few links about The Pike Committee, the first is an overview that was authored by the CIA's Agency Historian and head of the CIA History Staff, Gerald K. Haines.

Kathryn S. Olmsted wrote "Challenging the Secret Government: The Post-Watergate Investigation of the CIA and FBI" (University of North Carolina Press 1996, paper)-Third World Traveler has a page of excerpts from her work which is linked below.

"Counterattack, Unwelcome Truths, Epilogue"
http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/CIA/Unwelcome_Truths_...

I was unable to find the complete final report and documents of The Pike Committee-it is my understanding that portions are declassified yet the House retains control of the full report and documents.

Some of the report was leaked to the Village Voice which set-off a "national security" furor. Daniel Schorr lost his job at CBS as a result of passing on Pike Committee docs to the Village Voice.

NameBase.org has an archived Daniel Brandt article about this aspect of The Pike Committee (and other public disclosure issues).

"Journalism and the CIA: The Mighty Wurlitzer" by Daniel Brandt (NameBase NewsLine #17, April-June 1997)

It is worth noting that George Herbert Walker Bush was Director CIA during this tumultuous period 1975-77.

James Ridgeway wrote an article at the end of 2005 that ties a lot of this together inasmuch as documenting what the failure to implement reform has resulted in.
