Crunchy Frog's JournalAnother perspective on this. Nurses getting abused and threatened by covidiots.
Nurses quitting due to "compassion fatigue" when dealing with those who are sick by choice. There is absolutely no other comparable situation in this country's history that I know of.
The surreal lives of Arkansas nurses fighting Covid-19 inside the hospital and denial on the outside
Video is called: Nurse explains why she doesn't like the term 'healthcare hero'
No, I'm not suggesting that patients should be turned away, but when people see or hear about this kind of shit, I find the sentiment to be understandable. And if too many healthcare workers quit because of burnout or compassion fatigue, or just sick of the bullshit, it's a guarantee that patients WILL be turned away, though it probably won't be the ones who deserve it.
It doesn't surprise me. My mother just spoke with an old friend.
She and her husband and her elderly mother all got it, and were all fully vaxxed. The mother got extremely sick, and was hospitalized, I believe in the ICU, though she fortunately survived.
All the real world evidence that I've seen suggests that Delta is highly transmissable, even to vaccinated people.
Everyone can do what they want, but I personally feel like not masking, at this point, is insane.
This is a really pernicious form of voter intimidation.
Threatening people with a felony conviction and years of imprisonment if they make an unintentional mistake in voting. Isnt there already a woman in Texas serving a 5 year term for an honest mistake?
And I wonder which kind of people are more likely to be convicted and have the book thrown at them?
This could potentially have an incredibly chilling effect on voting, especially among groups more likely to be targeted.
I'm surprised people aren't making more noise about these laws.
Other countries have gone completely over the edge. Many times, and within living memory.
It's the height of magical thinking, or belief in American exceptionalism to think that such things can't happen here.
I worry about total societal breakdown, and the possibility of unspeakable violence happening here. Just like has happened in so many other places.
Wish I could get my hands on some of that.
At the current rate of progress, I'll be dead before they come up with an effective, commercially available, treatment for my kind of depression/anxiety disorder.
I joined at the height of the pre primary season for 2004..
That was every bit as bad as I can ever remember this site being.
I got accused of being a Republican, loving GWB, and being part of some sort of organized invasion of the site, operating under military type discipline, because of the candidate I supported.
2008 was the last season that I ever really participated in candidate discussions. Just too toxic
I don't think this place was ever the paradise that people imagine, though it was much better in early 2003 when I first started lurking. At least everyone was pretty much united in opposing the imminent invasion of Iraq.
I missed the first couple years of this place. Maybe that's when paradise existed here.
Randy Rainbow going on tour in fall. Tickets on presale right now.

We just got ours for the nearest performance, a 4 hour drive from here. Was already practically sold out, but I think that's mostly because it had been scheduled and then canceled in spring of last year.
I will continue at least until the viral spread around here
is close to nonexistent.
I'm also going to watch to see if there's an increase in rates of infections among the vaccinated. The fact that people who are more likely to get vaccinated are also more likely to comply with mask mandates could have some sort of impact on numbers.
I'm sure that we will continue to get lots of interesting data.
Question: If I got my 2nd shot yesterday, does that mean that I got in under the wire
for getting fully vaccinated within Biden's first 100 days?
