After the Senate's failure to adopt gun control legislation , Sen. Susan Collins and a bipartisan coalition Tuesday announced a compromise proposal to bar some terror suspects from buying guns.
But the White House and Justice Department are holding off on backing the measure until they study its provisions. And one leading Democrat, New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer, said there are several key flaws that would need to be fixed before the proposal moves forward.

This could work. It has an appeals process like Cronyn's amendment, but more time for authorities to make their case.

Shane Tomlinson was one of the murder victims in Orlando.
Many emotional things were said, but I shuttered when she said she worried she would t be able to find a church for a funeral service because he was gay.
And then in a sweet mother's voice she said, "he so loved the lord".

I thought spouse's could not be compelled to testify against their spouses even if the communication involved illegal behavior. And I thought this extended to reporting criminal behavior. Looks like I was wrong.

Gun shops typically see a spike in customers after mass shootings. But this time, many are seeing shoppers they’ve never really seen before: More gays and lesbians.

“I think right now because of what happened, people are looking for answers,” he said. “You walk into a gun shop and you expect to see people, frankly, who look like me. I think we forget we’re a country of all people, not just people who fit that predetermined mold.”
The Pink Pistols is a national gun club for gays and lesbians. It saw its membership soar from about 1,500 members on Saturday to 3,500 on Monday.
