NY Post: Trump was reduced to a sputtering mess

This is from a Trump supporter. Read the whole thing at the link!

By the time the last 15 minutes rolled around, he was reduced to yammering about Rosie O’Donnell being mean to him and Hillary running mean commercials about him and praising himself because there are some really terrible things he could have said about Hillary but hasn’t. By this point, even his smart closing zinger — “she has experience but it’s bad experience” — was buried inside a weird word salad that reduced its effectiveness to almost nil.

His supporters should be furious with him, and so should the public in general. By performing this incompetently, by refusing to prepare properly for this exchange, by not learning enough to put meat on the bones of his populist case against Clinton, he displayed nothing but contempt for the people who have brought him this far — and for the American people who are going to make this momentous decision on Nov. 8.

Hillary is handling Trump masterfully

She's kept quiet and let him rant, making him look like a lunatic rather than have it be a squabble.

She answered the email question and then successfully turned it right back to him and his tax returns -- he spent the next 10 minutes on the defensive and forgot all about the emails.

She is calm and confident and handing him the rope that he's now hanging himself with.

Bravo Hillary!

Remember Bush's debate meltdown in 2004?

I think that's going to look tame compared to the meltdown the Orange Con Man is going to have when he debates Hillary.

He's already losing it. Look at his tweet storm after Hillary's speech. Just wait until she is standing feet from him getting under his skin.

Signature image size limits

Is there any rule in place to limit the file sizes of images used in signature lines? I've noticed that some signatures have gifs that are extremely large -- as in upwards of 40MB. This can slow down the page load significantly.

I realize that since these images are not uploaded to DU servers, it would be harder to enforce a hard limit as is done with avatars. One solution, I know, is to turn off signature lines completely, but I enjoy seeing people's signatures and would hate to have to turn everyone's off just to block the few that are causing an issue.

What's the best course action? Do alerts for signature line issues go directly to the admins? If so, perhaps I could alert on the ones I'm noticing and let you decide.

Obama makes Stonewall Inn first national monument of LGBT movement

Source: NY Daily News

President Obama has declared the Stonewall Inn a national monument, making the iconic West Village bar the first national monument of the LGBT rights movement.

"Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story for the struggle for LGBT rights," Obama announced in a video released Friday.

The President honored the Stonewall patrons who fought back against a police raid on June 28, 1969, igniting the national gay rights movement 47 years ago.

"They stood up and spoke out. The riots became protests. The protests became a movement. The movement ultimately became an integral part of America," he said.

Supreme Court Tie Dooms Obama Immigration Policy

Source: NBC

The U.S. Supreme Court split 4-4 Thursday over a challenge to President Obama's immigration policy, a result that prevents the administration from putting the program into effect during the rest of him term.

Announced in late 2014, it would shield more than four million people from deportation. But lower courts blocked its implementation after Texas and 25 other states sued, claiming the president had no power to order the changes.

The death of Antonin Scalia left the Supreme Court evenly divided on the issue. Thursday's tie vote means the justices were unable to announce a ruling, an outcome that leaves in place the lower court rulings against enforcing the plan.

Under the proposal, adults here illegally could remain if they meet certain residency requirements and have children who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. It would also expand another program, now in effect, that allows young people to stay in the country if they were brought here under age 16.
