Biden Backs Filibuster Change for Voting Rights

President Biden says he supports making an exception to the Senate filibuster rules in order to pass voting rights legislation, CNN reports.

Said Biden: “If the only thing standing between getting voting rights legislation passed and not getting passed is the filibuster, I support making the exception of voting rights for the filibuster.”

Xmas postponed, Un-boosted son tests positive (Updated)

UPDATE:
message from son:

Fever is down to 100. SpO2 has never dropped below 99.
Body aches have mostly resolved.

Just have a sore through from my nose draining all night.
Had no appetite yesterday. Apparently a common symptom of omicron. I am back to my ravenous appetite today.

I want to be mad at him and I am sure the anger & frustration will return BUT right now, I am just happy he is better & xmas being postponed is no big deal.
Thanks to all of you who commiserated with me about this. I know I am not alone and that helps.
kp

*********

fever 103 degrees
tells me he will be ok because he listens to Joe Rogan and takes his vitamins
smart enough to get his first 2 vaccines but decided he was young and healthy enough to risk not getting boosted
Now, he is home with my 2 beautiful grandchildren who they assure us will be fine,

I am angry, sad, discouraged and baffled.
I have turned off the carols.
Anybody want any xmas cookies?
I have plenty.

“He is cooperating with prosecutors.”

HAPPENING NOW: Matthew Greene, a co-defendant in the Jan. 6 prosecution of New York-based Proud Boys, including Dominic Pezzola — one of the first rioters to breach the Capitol — is pleading guilty to conspiracy and other felony charges.

Greene has agreed to a cooperation deal with the government.

Federal judge rules against Oath Keepers, upholding felony charge

A federal judge denied a legal challenge against the heaviest charge that has been brought against Capitol riot defendants, upholding the felony count that federal prosecutors have relied on in the months since the attack.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta ruled Monday night that prosecutors will be allowed to move forward with the obstruction of an official proceeding charge against 17 defendants affiliated with the right-wing paramilitary group the Oath Keepers.

In a 49-page opinion, Mehta, an Obama appointee, rejected the defendants' various arguments, including that the obstruction charge is unconstitutionally vague and that the prosecutors' application of it in the context of the riot imperils First Amendment protections for demonstrators.

"Their alleged conduct was no mere political protest or trespass. If proven, their conduct crossed the line to criminal conduct: they 'corruptly' conspired to, and did, 'obstruct, influence, and impede an official proceeding,' " Mehta wrote, quoting the statute's text.
