Happy Sunday. There are 268 days until the presidential election. Barr is working with Rudy to wreck Biden, Trump goes into full mad king mode and oof about that picture.

Note: Well that’s a bummer. It turns out that just taking a Saturday off is not a hard reset for politics and democracy. So yeah, the same horrifying suck ass problems crippling our country on Friday are still here today. Damnit! Don’t worry. We’ll keep trying by always taking Saturday off to sleep in. Maybe one of these days we’ll awake to Sunday show hosts who remember that Javanka made $82 million while working in the White House last year. Maybe it will be CBS remembering they’re allowed to ask Lindsey Graham tough questions. Or maybe, just maybe, one of these days Sunday show reporters will actually try to hold politicians to account for the endless abuses and offenses coming out of the White House. Yeah, it’s a lot to hope for, but we are nothing if not eternal optimists. Have a great Sunday, everybody. Except the Sunday show hosts. They should go to the corner and think about how much they blow.

Note two: We are here all damn day for Speaker Pelosi calling out Moscow Mitch and the rest of the Senate chickenshits. More: Washington Post

More confessions

Speaking of Lindsey and the Sunday shows, Trump’s bootlicking buttlick straight up confessed on Face the Nation that AG Bill Barr has set up an investigation that will allow DOJ to “verify” the dirt Rudy has been getting on the Bidens in Ukraine from pro-Kremlin sources. Lindsey even went as far as to use Trump’s words, calling Rudy, who is supposedly under investigation, a crime-fighter. Lindsey only went quiet when he was asked who’s paying Rudy. This whole thing stinks, and we are obviously becoming Russia with better blue jeans. It will be a real shame to watch this week as the Capitol Hill press corps gives Republican senators a pass on all of this. More: CBS News

Don’t tell Susan

Or any of the other Republican senators who were deeply offended at the suggestion that Trump threatens people, but Trump is carrying out his petty retribution quickly and in plain sight. On Friday, the U.S. hit a new low (this happens daily now) as Lt. Col. Alex Vindman and his brother were both fired and escorted to the gates of the White House. Trump took to twitter to continue to smear the man who still carries shrapnel from a roadside bomb in Iraq, putting the lieutenant colonel’s rank in quotes and attacking his reputation. Also Friday, Trump fired Gordon Sondland, who was a totally useless tool. The NYT reports that a few Republican senators, including Susan Collins, tried to stop Trump from firing Sondland, the GOP donor. They made no such effort for Vindman. Trump’s purge likely isn’t done yet as WaPo says he wants to fire the IG too and the deranged orange idiot was on twitter Sunday morning unloading on Romney and Manchin. Fourth of July is totally gonna suck this year. More: Washington Post, Washington Post II, CNN, New York Times, Associated Press

Reality bites

Even in the inverted port-a-potty that is Trumpland, there are the things that make us laugh. And the picture of Trump looking like an Oompa Loompa’s butthole as he walked across the South Lawn left our sides hurting. And while normally we have to laugh at the mutant president’s shithouse rat crazy appearance and just hope that he knows we’re laughing at him, this weekend we got some satisfaction as the big orange dumb ass tweeted that the picture was fake and he doesn’t really look like that. And it’s just so delicious because the picture wasn’t fake at all and that’s really what he looks like and holy shit this person is the president and has the nuclear codes and this is really scary and suddenly we can’t breathe we can’t breathe pick a spot on the wall and stare at it and count backwards from a hundred and look at the picture again and breathe and remember that anyone who looks that fucking ridiculous is not someone you should be afraid of. Sorry about that. It happens sometimes. More: Buzzfeed News, The Daily Beast

RIP - Actor-comedian Orson Bean, 91, hit and killed by car in LA

https://news.yahoo.com/actor-comedian-orson-bean-91-114135652.html

Dallas Frederick Burrows, he never lost the Yankee accent that proved a perfect complement to the dry, laconic storytelling that established him as popular humorist. He had picked the stage name Orson Bean “because it sounded funny.”

His father, George, was a founding member of the American Civil Liberties Union and Bean recalled later that his “house was filled with causes.”

Wow talk about an enlightened Trans group with this response re Bloomberg

https://news.yahoo.com/mike-bloomberg-called-trans-women-231412105.html

The current presidential hopeful referred to a hypothetical transgender woman as a "man wearing a dress" and implied people in the Midwest couldn't understand social issues.

A statement from the Bloomberg campaign insists he is dedicated to protecting the rights of the transgender community.

A spokesperson for the National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund told Business Insider that the former mayor should be allowed to grow, and said his past comments indicated an issue with his education on trans issues.

GREAT RESPONSE!!!

WH press corps and their bosses are being duped

Dipshit speaking now. You can't hear Questions. It allows him to riff at will.

They should be ashamed that they are participating in this scheme to silence them and allow a one sided propaganda exercise.

Do not give him a platform. Demand a proper conference in a room with mics. Or don't show up.

New Yorker:How the House Democrats, in the face of certain defeat, presented the case

https://www.newyorker.com/news/the-political-scene/the-prosecution-of-president-donald-trump

Snip
The Laurel and Hardy–esque physical contrast between Schiff and Nadler, the team’s most senior members, could stand as a metaphor for their differing attitudes toward impeachment.

Schiff had resisted calls to begin proceedings against Trump even after the release of the Mueller report, and had urged Pelosi last fall to keep the scope of the articles narrowly focussed on the Ukraine matter.

Nadler, on the other hand, was an early advocate for impeachment. Last summer, a month before news of the Ukraine scheme had broken in the press, he told CNN that the Judiciary Committee was engaged in “formal impeachment proceedings,” a declaration that caused some consternation among his more cautious colleagues in the House.

And, when we spoke during the trial, he confirmed to me, for the first time on the record, that he had pushed Pelosi, unsuccessfully, to include an article of impeachment dedicated to the obstruction-of-justice allegations in the Mueller report. “It was clear to me by the beginning of 2019 that, on the merits, he ought to be impeached,” Nadler said, of Trump. By December, when the actual articles were drawn up, he said, “we could have impeached him on a dozen, literally a dozen, different arguments. But there’s a prudential political judgment to be made in terms of which articles and how many, and that’s the judgment that Nancy”—Pelosi—“ultimately made. That’s not a judgment on values, on the merits. It was a judgment, ultimately, on which could be most easily explained.”
