When will Canada sue the US like Mexico has?

As gun violence rises in Canada, weapons from the U.S. complicate gun control efforts
TORONTO, Canada — A few weeks ago, the Rev. Sky Starr led a funeral in northwest Toronto for a 24-year-old shooting victim. Among the mourners, she noticed a young man.

"I saw this youth was kneeling at the casket, he was praying," Starr recalls. The next morning, she received a call letting her know the same young mourner was dead. He'd been shot and killed overnight.

"Our problem in Toronto [is] handguns from the United States," Toronto Police Service Deputy Chief Myron Demkiw told Canadian parliamentarians during hearings on gun violence in February. In his city last year, he said, "86% of crime handguns [that are] able to be sourced were from the United States."

Our Southern neighbor is suing the major gun manufacturers in the US over their marketing practices that send guns flooding over the border. Now our Northern neighbor is complaining about our lax gun laws and proliferation of guns into their country. Half a dozen other nations have the US on a travel watch over our gun problem.

When will we as a country make that first step to recovery and admit that we have a problem? When will that minority of gun loving people here realize that they have been deceived by a money grubbing industry that has lied to them about their product?

GUNS DON'T MAKE YOU SAFE and now they are making our entire country a pariah just a step above Putin's Russia.

The gunners here on DU keep reminding me that hammers kill more people

than rifles. So from now on I'm carrying one of these for self defense!

And for concealed carry I've got one of these!

Just call me Mini Thor . . .

I was recently accused by a gunner here on DU of

shaming AR 15 owners.

I'm guilty. I am doing my best to shame the owners of these military grade weapons that are not good for hunting, target shooting, self defense or any other thing I can think of or imagine. Well, one thing as evidenced by the 319th mass shooting this year.

I'm following the example of MADD. Make those who are the problem aware that they are the problem.

Meanwhile as we have been distracted by Highland Park's tragedy . . .

In the last 72 hours there have been 413 other shootings. The number of victims ranged from 1 to 5.

You can read about every one of them here: https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/last-72-hours On the far right you can click on 'source' to read the report on each of them.

What does each one of these tragedies have in common? A gun.

Since the '70s the gun makers have promoted more and more lethal weaponry. Before that guns were marketed for hunting and sport shooting. Now the emphasis is on 'self defense' which emphasizes lethallity of rate of fire and number of rounds in the magazine. Back in the '50s a gunshot victim had one, maybe two, wounds. Now the number is routinely 5 or more. Back then the standard issue police side arm was a .38 six shot revolver. Now it's a 19 round semi-auto. That makes it possible for police to shoot a suspect 60 times.

But still, we can't forget all the 'good' guns do. Every day, on average, one of the approximately 175 shootings was a 'defensive gun use'. One.

When will the RKBA crowd admit that it really is the guns, the sheer number and incredible lethallity?
