10 year old girl makes decision to jump from moving car with 2 year old sister as man steals car

The children’s frantic mother sprints out of the store as the right rear passenger door swings open and her 2-year-old and 10-year-old daughters tumble out of the car. The girls suffered minor cuts, police said.

Moments before the theft, Ahumada was shown in security video making a purchase inside the convenience store, police said. He is wanted on suspicion of auto theft and attempted kidnapping.

Police said the mother parked her Acura at a gas pump and left the engine running with her daughters still inside.

She ran into the 7-Eleven store to pay when Ahumada approached her car, got inside and began to drive away, police said.

That’s when the 10-year-old girl grabbed her younger sister and made a decision to jump out of the moving car.

The Acura with a license plate number of 4UWT026 was last seen entering the 210 Freeway from San Bernardino Avenue.

Ted Williams, the formerly homeless guy with the golden voice, is running for prez

His discovery video if you haven't seen it

Internet 'golden voice' sensation Ted Williams says he's running for president as independent
— Ted Williams, the once-homeless Ohio man whose smooth radio voice made him an Internet sensation, says he plans to run for president as an independent.

The 57-year-old Williams was propelled into the spotlight in 2011 after he appeared in a video by The Columbus Dispatch panhandling on a highway ramp with a sign advertising his radio voice. The video's millions of views led to national television appearances and earned Williams numerous voice-over jobs.

Williams announced his plan Tuesday on Scott Spears' "Now" radio program on WWGH-FM in Marion.

Williams says he hasn't yet established a campaign staff, and he wouldn't elaborate on fundraising efforts. He plans to focus on fair housing, veterans issues, jobs and improving schools.

Williams says he's recently been appearing at corporate events and public speaking engagements.

A woman posted a public apology on Craigslist to a gay couple she verbally harassed in 1993

Dear young gay couple in 1993,

You were sitting together on the curb near the entrance of Worlds of Fun. I was walking in with my church youth group. I was 17 and bigoted, taught that you were wrong and sinful. You were happy, sitting close, having fun, smooching a little, probably waiting for some friends. We walked in as a group, excited, adventurous, privileged. My friend pointed you out with a gasp of surprise and disgust. I looked over to see you together, relaxed and confident, and I said out loud, "Ewww gross."

I don't remember your reaction and I don't know if you heard me. As we walked away I felt a prick of shame. Outwardly I had acted as if it was you who should be ashamed, but for over 20 years it has been me who carries this shame. I'm writing this today to apologize for my behavior.

Dear young gay couple in 1993, I am so sorry. I am so sorry I treated you as second class citizens and ruined that sweet moment you were having. I want you to know that shortly after this youth group trip I entered college and my whole world changed. My learned bias and my belief in homosexuality as a sin was flipped upside down as I was exposed to new people and new ideas. I have walked away from the religion that taught me to hate. My life is now one of empowering and advocating for young people. 20 years later I carry my shame as a reminder to check my privilege. I consider myself an ally and I hope my advocacy over the years has righted some of my wrongs.

Wherever you are I hope you're each still sitting close with a loved one and living a wonderful life.

With a heartfelt apology,
A kid who learned the truth

The post, written in April, was incredibly popular on Craigslist, making it to the coveted "Best of Craigslist" page.

Defiant Texas Man Nails 6-foot Wooden Confederate Flag to Building Across From County Courthouse

Defiant Texas Man Nails 6-foot Wooden Confederate Flag to Building Across From County Courthouse

A Texas man who nailed a 6-foot wooden Confederate flag to a building across from the Montague County Courthouse refused on Monday to take it down even though leaders throughout the South had called for the removal of offensive Civil War-era symbols.

After Republican Gov. Nikki Haley change course on Monday and called for the Confederate battle flag to be removed from the South Carolina statehouse grounds, a Mississippi lawmaker called for the symbol to banned from his state’s flag and lawmakers in Tennessee said that they wanted the bust of a Ku Klux Klan leader removed from the Tennessee statehouse.

But David Fenogilo told KAUZ that he had no intention taking down a 6-foot wooden flag that he had nailed to a building across the street from the county courthouse. Affixed on the flag are the words, “Heritage, Not Hate.”

“This is a building that I’ve owned for several years, and I have this sign that’s here in front that says ‘Heritage, Not Hate,'” Fenogilo explained. “I see it as the Southern heritage and I have two grandfathers who fought in the Civil War and it’s a tribute to them. And also, all of the Confederate veterans.”

New mom taking a break from baby saves a stranger

But coming back home, she was sidetracked when she noticed 59-year-old Matthew Galvez sitting on the side of the road in his cycling clothes and helmet, a bike laying innocently on the ground.

"He looked with it, but he wasn't drinking any water or anything. Like it was clear he didn't stop riding on his own accord," she said.

"I kept thinking someone else would pull over and help him. But no one did, so I was like, 'OK, it's me.' And I pulled up to him, and the first thing I said to him was, 'What do you need?'"

That day, Galvez, who said he has been a competitive cyclist for more than three decades, had done a 35-mile loop with his team. He felt himself growing fatigued with about 15 miles to go so he told his team to go ahead; he was going to head home by himself.

-------------------------

"I stopped and laid down on a bench for the buses," he said. "There was the one bigger guy who looked at me, and then looked away. Same with the rest of people around there. No one really asked if I was OK."

-------------

Galvez didn't know it yet, but he had suffered a massive heart attack, with no blood or oxygen getting through on the right side of his heart.

Geneva decided to offer a ride to Galvez, who passed out and stopped breathing after sitting down in her car.

With an unconscious stranger in her passenger seat, Geneva raced to St. David's South Austin Medical Center.

Sarah Palin is no longer a Fox News contributor

A Fox News spokeswoman confirmed a report in Politico that Palin's contract with the cable news outlet expired on June 1 and has not been renewed. Palin will still appear as a guest on Fox News programs but will no longer be paid.

Palin's last appearance on Fox News was on the June 8 edition of "Hannity."

Palin, 51, was considered a hot TV commodity after she rose to prominence as Sen. John McCain's running mate in his failed 2008 run for the White House. She signed on as a Fox News commentator in January 2010, a few months after her resignation from the Alaska governorship. She was reportedly paid $1 million a year but that payment was reduced over time.

Her on-air career is now limited to her reality series "Amazing America" on the Sportsman Channel and own subscription video channel distributed through TAPP.
