madamesilverspurs's JournalA Canadian's View on Our Disrespect of President Obama's Presidency
By William Thomas
There was a time not so long ago when Americans, regardless of their political stripes, rallied round their president. Once elected, the man who won the White House was no longer viewed as a republican or democrat, but the President of the United States. The oath of office was taken, the wagons were circled around the countrys borders and it was America versus the rest of the world with the president of all the people at the helm.
Suddenly President Barack Obama, with the potential to become an exceptional president has become the glaring exception to that unwritten, patriotic rule.
Four days before President Obamas inauguration, before he officially took charge of the American government, Rush Limbaugh boasted publicly that he hoped the president would fail. Of course, when the president fails the country flounders. Wishing harm upon your country in order to further your own narrow political views is selfish, sinister and a tad treasonous as well.

If you missed Rachel Maddow this evening,
absolutely worth the effort to catch the rerun.
Broadcast from Denver; Michael Bennet, Mark Udall, Irv Halter, lots of good commentary from Lynn Bartels; Rachel's first visit to a legal pot dispensary, her walking-in comment is priceless.
What's that noise?
About noon-thirty today I was in west Greeley. Heard a noise and looked up.
Have no idea who did that, but I'm more than a little surprised. Also chuckling.
(Yes, it's a photoshop, didn't have my camera, so...)
Thanks, Mark!

PACs and phantom candidates
One of the local Republican candidates running for our state legislature has never engaged in a public debate or candidate forum, has not held even one event to meet the public. We're told he manages a small local business, but no one knows what it is. We've seen his photo on the mailers, but no one has met the guy. Yet out-of-area PACs have spent nearly $500K on slick glossy mailers promoting him while sending other mailers trashing his Democratic opponent.
That's a lot of money to spend on a "phantom" candidacy. Anyone here have something similar going on in their neighborhood?

No thanks!
"He voted with the president 99% of the time!"
