DU weirdness...

I'll click on a post, read it, then return to forum. Names and other bits are lined out, no avatars, most text remains. Refresh doesn't resolve it, have to close the page and re-open it to get the normal appearance.

What's up with that? Is it happening to anyone else?

February 17, 2015

This week has already had two Mondays.

Sunday morning started with a “tap...tap...tap…tap” as I sipped my first cup of coffee. Turning off the news in order to be able to follow the sound to the dining area, I switched the light on to find water dripping from the fan-light. Uh oh. Buckets in place, I made the necessary phone calls.

An hour later, the property manager (who had been on the highway headed toward a family event in another town) knocked on my door, letting me know that the building’s water was being turned off until the source of the leak was determined. Oh joy. No showers, no laundry. And since we have base-board rads, no heat. The last was concerning, given that our mid-60s temps had given way to a convincing snow storm; about 9pm they showed up with space heaters for each apartment, one each.

The laundry room is just outside my door. Those ceiling tiles had already pancaked by the time the crew arrived, the floor was flooded. The machines are now out in the hall while repairs are made. Soggy drywall and insulation are being bagged for removal, the walls are now bare studs and the backside of the drywall that is my dining wall has been treated with Kilz.

The crew just came in and cut a hole in my ceiling, then they brought in a de-humidifier that’s almost as big as my refrigerator, running a hose from that to drain into my kitchen sink for 48 hours. Noisy thing, but the water is back on and we have heat.

Just now one of the crew knocked on my door seeking some ice for the finger he’d smashed. He said he knew I’d help, telling his co-worker that I’m “a nice old lady.” On his way out the door he thanked me and said he’d see me when they put in the new ceiling sometime this week.

So, how’s your week starting?
