Trump's shrinking electoral map

There are growing signs that Colorado, a key Western swing state, is no longer in play.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The 2016 battleground map may soon have one fewer state on it.

With a clear lead in the polls, demographic advantages, and a rival who is out of sync with local GOP leaders, Hillary Clinton is beginning to put some distance between her campaign and Donald Trump, raising the prospect that Colorado, a pivotal swing state, is too far gone for Trump to catch up.

Republicans are in a full scale panic today because Donald Trump’s candidacy appears to be in chaos.

Republicans have shifted into a much higher state of Red Alert because Trump’s erratic antics are revealing just how reckless their decision to nominate him really was, and how reckless their continued support for him really is.

In other words, Trump is now threatening to damage the party in far worse ways than Republicans had bargained for, because he’s revealing in inescapably clear terms the real character and qualifications of the person they knowingly nominated to run the country and continue to support for the presidency.

While Donald Trump was busy looking like a tremendous asshole this weekend, the scope of the DNC breach became even wider, as Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign announced that they too had been the hacked. In case you’ve lost count, the total number of breaches to the Democratic party are DNC communications, DCCC fund raising operations, and now Clinton’s campaign, prompting young whippersnappers across the world to wonder why in the metamuc-hell can’t olds figure out computers?

While there is still speculation as to who exactly tried to go all digital-ninja on the DNC, there is a general consensus from the U.S. intelligence community that the hack originated from Russia. Hill-Dawg herself was even on teevee this weekend pointing fingers at the Russians; suggesting that Putin and Trump’s bro-mance raises legitimate questions about the potential for foreign governments interfering in the U.S. electoral process.

HUFFPOLLSTER: Polls Continue To Show Good News For Hillary Clinton

But that doesn’t mean the gains will last until November.

CLINTON’S LEAD IN THE POLLS IS INCREASING - New polls from CNN, NBC/SurveyMonkey and YouGov/Economist confirm what initial post-convention polls indicated: Clinton is getting a fairly strong post-convention bump.

YouGov/Economist has her up 3 points compared to last week, CNN swung from a 3-point Trump lead to a 9-point Clinton lead, and NBC/SurveyMonkey, which didn’t show a bounce for Trump at all, shows Clinton jumping from a 1-point lead to an 8-point lead.

The HuffPost Pollster chart shows Trump’s convention bounce leveling off and Clinton taking an average 6-point lead, 47 percent to Trump’s 41 percent. Among polls with Gary Johnson included in the questions, Clinton’s average lead is 5 points, 42 percent to Trump’s 37 percent.

With Russia a campaign issue, Clinton gains on foreign affairs

Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton's post-convention bump extends to enthusiasm about voting and trust on a slew of issues, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll.

And on the most prominent foreign policy issue of late, Russia and its relationship with the US, nearly 6-in-10 see the country as unfriendly, and about half say they think the Russian government is attempting to influence the outcome of the US presidential election.

White House candidate Clinton sees big boost in fundraising in July

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton raised nearly $90 million in July for her campaign and the Democratic Party, with more than half the donations coming from new donors, the campaign said on Tuesday.

Clinton’s campaign said it had $58 million in the bank as it starts August, and that the donations it received last month averaged $44. Of the $90 million raised, $63 million was for Clinton’s presidential campaign while about $26 million was for other Democrats, it said in a statement.

In June, Clinton, the Democratic nominee raised $68.5 million.

Khizr Khan delivered one of the most moving speeches at the Democratic National Convention, captivating viewers with his story about losing his son, a U.S. service member who died in the Iraq War saving his fellow soldiers.

Khan, who is Muslim American, said that if it were up to Donald Trump, he and his family wouldn’t even be allowed in the country.

“Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America,” Khan said. “You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

And now, despite his family’s sacrifice to the country, Khan is facing accusations that so many other high-profile Muslim Americans face: that he is unpatriotic and a terrorist.
