A positive story about a nice man I met at the foodstore about 70 minutes ago...11/9/18,, 8:45 pm ET

He helped me to see what is important...Enjoy today..Do the best you can, for today is very important.
...I had not seen Steve in a couple of weeks, because I hadn't been to the exercise center where I met him. He is 91 or 92, was born in Poland late 20s. (not sure exact date) ..anyway..When Steve was a teenager, the Nazi's came into his house, and Steve escaped as they took his parents away.(.I think they killed them.) and Steve traveled East to the Soviet Union. He joined the Russian army and fought with them against the Germans in WWII. His stories about what he saw and participated in are almost unbelievable ..But as things turned out..He ended up in Berlin at the end of the war..
...Somehow, Steve met up with some U.S. soldiers, and befriended them. He's got nowhere to go, so the U.S. soldiers took him to their camp. After a while, they took him to HQ and the officers asked him if he had any relatives in the U.S. He looked at a map, and one city had a star next to its name. It was Springfield Illinois, so he said, he would like to go there. Why did it have a * because it was the capital of Illinois..So the U.S. Army sends him to live in Illinois..
...The rest is a long story, he fought in the Korean War for the U.S. Army, moved to Chicago, became a citizen and had a family. I met him at the exercise center I go to, and together we walk around the track..one lap at a time. He is a nice fellow and he recognized me while I was walking around the foodstore trying to figure out the next move. He said hello, is that Stuart?..and I said, yes, is it you Steve? So we talked for a while and just seeing him put it all into perspective. Yes, we had both seen a whole lot, (Steve more than me) but I taught high school for close to 30 years and you see a lot in inner city high schools..(more than you can believe.)
...But what came to mind after seeing Steve for a few minutes is this: "Enjoy and live for today, as best we can, and that is it. Why? Today is a very important day..because it is. Live in the now ...I have heard of this one before, but often with the day to day nonsense, I forget it. I have friends, family, good health, and a lot to enjoy. Just seeing this friend, Steve, and meeting him in the food store helped me to see what is important. We need to enjoy each day as best we can.. I wish I could keep my mind on that all the time...So much interruption.....here and there and everywhere, interruption of that one simple thought.." Enjoy each day as best we can"

Nikki Haley says sexual harassment accusers shouldn't be blamed or second-guessed

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Sunday that as a general principle, people should avoid blaming or second-guessing sexual harassment accusers.

"The message I'm comfortable with is that accusers go through a lot of trauma and some handle it one way and some handle it the other way," Haley told CNN's "State of the Union" anchor Jake Tapper. "Regardless, you never -- it's not something that we want to do, to blame the accuser or to try and second guess the accuser. We don't know the situation she was going through 35 years ago. We don't know the circumstances."

The "D" next to Manchin's name is very important..

........"the "D" next to the names, is how the committee chairs are determined....Also, and this too is important, the "D" next to his name allows the leader of the senate, to set the agenda, as to when the senate votes for this or for that.
..It is not only when the senate votes, but what the senate votes on. For example, should we vote on a supreme court justice or should we vote on a bill to increase taxes on the middle class. Now, consider this for a moment, that jerk McConnell has the power to decide when the senate votes, and what the senate votes on..............................................................................................................................

...So if McConnell was not in charge, and a democrat was in charge, the game would be totally different in every way....McConnell gains his power from being the majority leader. He exercises that power for his own benefit, and the benefit of the rich assholes that support him.

Therefore, having Manchin as a "D" is extremely important...It gets us closer to controlling the senate.. Then, if we have control, we can set the agenda, and decide what gets voted on. Yes, the type of bills, and what is in each bill is determined by the majority party. That's it. We need Manchin to gain control. McConnell has current control of the senate. You want him out, then support Manchin..........

... To be successful in politics you got to eat some awful food. That is life. I want McConnell out as majority leader. So, if Manchin is a "D" then it helps us..If he is a "R" then he hurts us. West Virginia is a rough place to run for office. It ain't easy, and Manchin is in now, and he has a "D" and it helps us. Manchin has been successful enough to get elected in a very difficult state with all kinds of people there. We support the "D"s because we need as many "D"s as we can get..All types of people. Take a look at the diversity of us vs them. Then, we realize how important each "D" in the senate is...We need Manchin to gain control of the senate. If we have control, then we set the time things get voted on, and also what gets voted on. That is ...the content of the legislation that is proposed.......that's all folks................

Trump has crossed over a line. He made fun of a "majority" group of people, "WOMEN"

.....................WOMEN ARE A MAJORITY GROUP IN THE USA..........................

..When Trump made fun of Dr. Ford, he crossed a line. He made fun of a woman who was sexually assaulted. The group Dr. Ford is in is a group of "women" Please note, this is not some minority such as Jews, Asians, Afro Americans, Native Americans, seniors, teenagers, 20 somethings and so on. Women are a MAJORITY IN THIS COUNTRY... Most women know someone who was sexually assaulted in one way or another, a friend, relative, acquaintance and so on.

..Sexual assault is not new. The President of the United States mocking someone who is an victim of sexual assault ..IS NEW.. People discuss this sort of thing, over and over. Something like sexual assault has never been discussed like this before. Trump mocking an victim goes way beyond "normal." Not only is it making fun of women, but victims of a horrendous crime. And he did this in a nation wide speech, ON LIVE TV, not some private conversation..

..I believe people will talk about this up to and including the day of election. Just as important, getting access to this event, (Trump making fun of Dr. Ford) is as easy as .."copy and paste into Google Search. So if somebody missed Trump making fun of Dr. Ford, a person can show a friend the incident almost instantly. A woman does NOT need to go to the library to search for a video tape, or go home for a disc. Someone does not need to check out the TV News to get those 20 or 30 seconds of Trump making fun of Dr. Ford. If someone does not know how to work a computer, (some people do not) then we all have friends that could show us..instantly..the moment Trump made fun of Dr. Ford. Yes the Kavanaugh appointment is bad. Very Bad. But Trump making fun of Dr. Ford will not be forgotten..ever. People will talk about it the way that others talked about a 15 minute gap in some tape recordings.

. Trump is a bully and someone who mocks and puts down others. He enjoys it. That 5 minutes of mocking Dr. Ford will define him. And as a result, people will vote for the Democratic Party that have never done so before. And the election is a month away. Plenty of time to discuss this over and over. Many people are very mad about this, (and we are too) and the way we will express this anger is on November 6.

About this idea of giving up....It is NOT hopeless..Here is an example..

Go back to the 1972 election. You can find it easily in a number of places..

...Democrats won one state ..Massachusetts ...look it up..and it felt hopeless. But it wasn't. Nixon resigned in 1974. and Jimmy Carter was elected in 1976. Carter mandated in 1977, as President that some years into the future, 1984,..that all cars have seatbelts. (later air bags and crumple zones etc)..Tens of thousnds of lives have been saved..

.......Now in 1972, when Nixon was elected for the second term, it seemed hopeless but it wasn't. 4 years later a Democrat was elected. 32 years later an Afro American was elected who proposed and enacted a number of progressive programs that also saved lives. (like Obamacare). It seemed hopeless in 1972, but it wasn't. We have to hang in there and fight and not give up.

So, I worked for McGovern, and I rang doorbells, and passed out literature..I remember telling one fellow, that there was a break in earlier in the year at "Watergate" and he slammed the door on me. Who would have known that 2 years later, Nixon would resign. Trumps attitude is ..poison and he will meet his match in about a month. He really doesn't have a clue. Go out to vote...

About the FBI. How do people who work for the FBI feel about being conned?

.....Investigators, leaders, even secretaries have been conned. The FBI was ordered to do a very incomplete study within a short amount of time on a very important subject. The outcome was predicted. Are we talking about 4 days? Or is it 5 days? The FBI has been long known as an outstanding organization that gets the crook. But in this case, the crook goes free because he gets the FBI. I don't think people who have been lifetime employees of this organization, that has high ideals and an outstanding reputation are particularly happy with this situation.
.....It seems obvious that the crook lied to congress, and that is "against the law." A company or organization that prides itself on "honesty" and "getting the bad guy" will not take this con lightly. The FBI has been used by crooks to gain an illegal con that will last for a lifetime.. I do not think we have heard the last of this from the FBI.
....something else to think about ...Mark Felt, who was "deep throat" of the Watergate scandal, worked for the FBI, and I am sure that the FBI took enormous pride in the fact that one of its own broke open that crime with numerous parts and the fellow at the top, Richard Nixon was exposed and had to resign. Keeping that in mind, I will say it again..I do not think we have heard the last of this from the FBI. No one likes to be used in a dishonest way for evil purposes. The last organization that someone would do this to is the FBI. After all, they will come after you, no matter what.

Mocking a victim of sexual assault is an incredible mistake

Millions of women have been assaulted. These women have friends and relatives who have sensitivity for them and with them. So Trump has mocked a significant majority of them. Maybe most of them. Those women and friends will not forget this, and come November the significance will be clear.

....Trump could apologize, but he never apologizes for anything. As usual, he will double down, and do it again. He will be told not to, but he thinks he knows it all so, he will double down and mock her again. He has stepped over a line that only a truly stupid person would step. He is done, and so are those that support him.

...One more thought. Yes, there is a group that will support Trump no matter what he says. That is true. But as people talk about this, (and people will talk about this) that group in my opinion will get much smaller. Some just won't vote in November. And some will vote against the Republican Party that support Trump. How many? The answer will be seen the day after the November 6 election. But guess what? There is a whole month for people to talk about this asshole comment. Plenty of time for an apology..(I don't think Trump will ever apologize) and for people to decide to vote for the Democratic Party, since the Republican Party will support the asshole....plenty of time to talk about this..

Trump thinks he can get away with it. He can try, but he can't. Why? There are literally millions of women who are victims of sexual assault. I am sure they are offended by this attacking of a fellow survivor. The victims know that Dr. Ford is telling the truth. Trump's focus is only his own.

Victims of sexual assault have sympathy with fellow victims. Trump has no sympathy. But victims of this kind of assault never forget it.. The victims will never forget Trump's making fun of one of them. This is major news if it is at the top of CNN. And I suspect Trump will not apologize for this. He never apologizes and that is good for our side.
