Source: CNBC
Tesla announced Monday that it bought $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin, according to a filing with the SEC.
The company said it bought the bitcoin for "more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash," according to the filing. In addition to the purchase, Tesla said it would start accepting payments in bitcoin in exchange for its products as well.
The move raised immediate questions around CEO Elon Musk's behavior on Twitter recent weeks, where he has been credited for increasing the prices of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and dogecoin by posting messages about them and therefore encouraging more people to buy.
This is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

Biden to review deportations of veterans, military family that occurred under Trump
Source: McClatchy
President Joe Biden will review the deportations of veterans and military family members that occurred under the stricter immigration enforcement policies of former President Donald Trump, a White House official told McClatchy.
The review is part of Bidens broader effort to undo some of Trumps immigration policies.
For service members and veterans, Trumps stricter policies at times led to immigrant soldiers or veterans having their naturalization applications denied at a higher rate than civilians not in the military, although by mid-2020 military naturalization approval rates had improved. Those policies also led to deportations of some veterans or family members of currently serving military personnel.
The administrations immigration enforcement will focus on those who are national security and public safety threats, not military families, service members or veterans, White House assistant press secretary Vedant Patel said in a statement to McClatchy. The federal government in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security will take further review of removals of veterans and their family members.

Amanda Gorman performing at the #SuperBowl
https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1358560466772058113In her short but already momentous career, the 22-year-old poet Amanda Gorman has accomplished a stunning series of firsts. At 19, she became the countrys first Youth Poet Laureate. Last month, when she recited her poem, The Hill We Climb, at President Bidens inauguration, she became the youngest inaugural poet in American history. And on Sunday, she became the first poet ever to perform for the Super Bowl.
Before the game, Gorman delivered an original poem titled Chorus of the Captains in a taped segment. Gorman wrote the poem to celebrate three people who were chosen as honorary captains to take part in the coin toss: Trimaine Davis, a Los Angeles teacher who helped his students get laptops for remote schooling; Suzie Dorner, a nurse in a Tampa who works with Covid-19 patients in an intensive care unit, and James Martin, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Pittsburgh who has worked to support veterans, high school athletes and young people in his community.
In a performance before the coin toss, Gorman paid homage to the honorary captains:
Today we honor our three captains
For their actions and impact in
A time of uncertainty and need.
Theyve taken the lead,
Exceeding all expectations and limitations,
Uplifting their communities and neighbors
As leaders, healers, and educators

Shattered glass portrait erected in DC to celebrate Harris
Source: The Hill
A shattered glass portrait of Vice President Harris meant to depict her glass-ceiling shattering career was erected on the National Mall in Washington, D.C this week.
Groups seeking to memorialize Harris's historic achievement of becoming the first Black and Asian American woman to hold the office of vice president in the United States unveiled the portrait, which is 6 feet tall and 6 feet wide, in front of the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday.

This will just be a wonderful visual emblem of this moment in time and hopefully people will reflect a little bit on all the barriers that have been broken by her election, Holly Hotchner, president and CEO of the National Women's History Museum, a co-sponsor of the project, told The Associated Press.
Harris has broken barriers not only as vice president, but also as the first woman and person of color to serve as district attorney of San Francisco and the first Black person to serve as California's attorney general and to represent the state in the Senate.

Rep. Boebert paid off nearly $20K in state tax liens in 2020 (Hmm...)
Between August 2016 and February 2020, Shooters Grill, the gun-themed Rifle restaurant owned by Boebert, accumulated eight liens for nonpayment of unemployment insurance premiums, according to records from the Garfield County Clerk and Recorders office.
The liens, filed by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, indicate that Shooters Grill was delinquent on UI premiums dating back to its opening in 2013. By early 2020, Boeberts restaurant owed the state a total of $19,552.86, including interest and penalties.
On Feb. 13, 2020, three of the liens, totaling $553.50, were satisfied and released, records show. The remaining five liens, totaling $18,999.36, were satisfied on Oct. 22, 2020, according to Garfield County records.
Boebert did not respond to multiple requests for comment on what led to the liens being filed on Shooters Grill, or how they were paid off.
