From Al Jazeera: How Europe's far right responded to pro-Trump Capitol riots (...)

I think this article provides some additional useful perspective on these events.

From article: "Violence in Washington, DC, draws condemnation from some hard-right politicians in Europe, but others remain notably silent.

snip

European far-right leaders, who once threw their unwavering support behind US President Donald Trump, have condemned pro-Trump protesters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday as Congress gathered to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s presidential win.

snip

Right-wing politicians, including Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, the far-right Dutch opposition leader Geert Wilders, Trump’s longtime British ally Nigel Farage and Italy’s far-right League party leader Matteo Salvini, denounced the protesters’ actions.

Unlike German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, however, they stopped short of pinning some blame on Trump."

I've read a lot here about flat-earthers, but there are also people who believe the earth is hollow!

When I was around 6 years old I saw a large poster illustrating the hollow-earth belief in a barber shop,
probably somewhere in South Dakota where we lived for awhile. See search link below*

But then if you can believe in Gawd(s) or Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy you can believe in anything!

From The Guardian Gallery: How To Draw Anything, a children's book by Moose Allain

(But adults can enjoy it too. I have) While this is from 2015 it's the first time I've seen it. So much to learn
and so little time.

Waking up today from my morning nap the song "Save The Last Dance For Me" was running

through my mind. I first enjoyed this song as a piece of music when I was a youngster listening to
the radio in the early 60s. The original recording was by The Drifters in 1960. Later I appreciated the masterful use of internal rhymes by the writers, Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. The song could
easily be used both at the sock hop or in the classroom. Enjoy.

From The Guardian/Environment/Gallery: "Butterflies, bushfires and bears:

Age of Extinction's year in photography"

These refreshing and soothing photos are just what I need to start the New Year. I hope you
enjoy them too.

One photo is captioned as being the Sluch river so being curious I set out to find out where it is.
(I often do this.) I found out Sluch is the English for the name of the Sluc in the local language. The Sluch/Sluc is a tributary of the Pripyat/Pripiat River (I've seen both spellings) that flows through
Ukraine and Belarus. I didn't find a map location for the Sluch/Sluc but did find the location of the
Pripyat/Pripiat. It's a very healing process for me to do these things and if we all need one thing
these days it's healing!
