Poetic Justice For Man charged in Olympic bottle throwing incident

LONDON (AP) Olympic officials on Monday sharply criticized a man who was arrested for allegedly throwing a plastic bottle onto the Olympic track before the men's 100-meter final, but officials and competitors said the unpleasant incident did not affect the showcase event.

Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London organizing committee, said there would be "zero tolerance" for anti-social behavior.

"Throwing a bottle on to the field of play is unacceptable, it's not just unacceptable at an Olympics Games but at any sporting event and anybody who does that will be removed," he said.

Coe said there was some "poetic justice" involved because the suspect had been sitting next to a judo star who hit him after he allegedly threw the bottle Sunday night. Coe cautioned, however, that he was not supporting a vigilante response.

Parents Accused Of Forcing Kids Into Plastic Boxes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio couple were charged this week with punishing their three children by forcing them into plastic boxes sealed with duct tape and only a square cut in the top for air.

The children, ages 5, 6 and 8, were crammed into the boxes as punishment June 16 at the family home in Steubenville while the parents went to the grocery store and left two uncles at home with them, a prosecutor said. A friend of the family arrived at the house, got the children out of the boxes and contacted police.

The children "were all basically demonstrating (for authorities) that they were curled up in the fetal position, laying in their backs," prosecutor Jeffrey J. Bruzzese said.

The children were in the boxes for about 15 to 30 minutes, with square holes cut out of the lids to expose the top part of their faces. There was no indication they had been put in the boxes before, but it was part of a cycle of abuse by the parents that included having weights dropped on their feet, Bruzzese said.

The children have been removed from the home and are in good health, the prosecutor said.

Got into an argument with a friend about marijuana being a gateway drug.

I said it wasn't and she said it was.

I said that studies have shown that the use of marijuana is not a certainty to lead to harder drugs. There will be people where there is a link that could be shown, but that it is not as big a problem in that area as people like to believe.

I said that the war on marijuana needs to be stopped and the resources concentrated on other substances like meth. You want to give somebody a drug that's going to destroy them, give them meth.

In addition, I said that as a harmful substance, alcohol does tremendous damage. If she wnted to clean up wholesale abuse in a great number of people, that would be a start. People using any drug can cause problems. However, you rarely if ever read about destruction on the highways caused by marijuana use.

Donations to the tune of $2.3 million to the Super PAC supporting Rick Santorum during Republican primaries vaulted Friess into national headlines, which he says he and his wife didn’t appreciate.

“I enjoy anonymity,” he said on Wednesday during an interview with NBC News.

He also enjoys women.
