Our specific goal is to support local school board candidates and causes that share our values by:
*Reforming our public education system by promoting pragmatism and critical thinking. We expose hyperbolic, fake curriculum issues like CRT and The 1776 Project, in Public School Boards.
*Helping candidates with the resources and support necessary to combat the toxic candidates and environment created by MAGA movement and fake news organizations.
*While divisive groups want to return to the past for answers, we at Education Truth Project are focused on our future
War in Ukraine generates interest in nuclear energy, despite danger
European nations are weighing climate benefits against the perils of putting nuclear power plants in harms way...
The war in Ukraine has intensified interest across Europe in building new nuclear energy plants or extending the lives of old ones to liberate the continent from its heavy reliance on Russian oil and natural gas.
Belgium... The Czech Republic... Poland... [Romania] Theyre all doing it for the same reasons: decarbonization, energy security and national security, said Westinghouses energy systems business.

These tight-ass assholes need a new butt....
An assistant principal read the childrens book I Need a New Butt! to second graders. He was fired.

When a guest who was scheduled to read to second graders over Zoom earlier this month didnt show up, Toby Price, the assistant principal at a Mississippi elementary school, improvised.
Prices boss at Gary Road Elementary School suggested Price read to the students, so he reached for one of his favorite childrens books: I Need a New Butt! written by Dawn McMillan and illustrated by Ross Kinnaird.
Its a funny, silly book, Price, 46, said in an interview with The Washington Post. Im a firm believer that
if kids see that books can be funny and silly, theyll hang around long enough to see all the other cool things that books can be.
The students thought it was hilarious, Price recalled. But the superintendent for the Hinds County School District near Jackson, Miss., did not, and about an hour after the event, Price was placed on administrative leave. Two days later, on March 4, he was fired.
How is the war going for Putin on social media? Not great.
On Telegram and other platforms, cracks are appearing in the official Russian narrative
WaPo, no paywall: https://wapo.st/3trzu6g
While Vladimir Putins military lays siege to Kyiv, his propaganda organs at home are waging an impossible war to simultaneously hide and justify the invasion of Ukraine. Despite the Russian presidents reputation as a master media strategist, his government is losing the propaganda war and fast.
His propaganda assault is monotonous. The news is full of references to the special military operation a term that is as tedious in Russian as it is in translation. While the sense of war pervades this media space, it is never named as such: The conflict is supposedly between the West, which has insidiously spread anti-Russian and fascist oppression, and the innocent people of Ukraine; Russia and its armies are absent from the battlefield.
But look beyond the states social media sphere, and cracks begin to emerge. Only 47 percent of younger Russians profess support for the war. More active on independent or foreign-owned platforms such as Instagram and the messaging service Telegram, they are expressing support for Ukraine and hearing anti-government views.
Telegram, which allows total anonymity and provides strong encryption, has thus far proved unblockable by the government. It has in recent years increasingly been used as an organizing space for anti-government protest. Opening one of an array of Russian-language Telegram channels some with subscriber counts in the millions gives Russians easy access to a counternarrative.

I Just Cant Stand By: American Veterans Join the Fight in Ukraine
Sanctions can help, but sanctions cant help right now, and people need help right now, said the former Marine, who lives in Tampa Bay, Fla., and like other veterans interviewed for this article asked that only his first name be used for security reasons. I can help right now.
All across the United States, small groups of military veterans are gathering, planning and getting passports in order. After years of serving in smoldering occupations, trying to spread democracy in places that had only a tepid interest in it, many are hungry for what they see as a righteous fight to defend freedom against an autocratic aggressor with a conventional and target-rich army.

Canada must confront the toxic 'Freedom Convoy' head-on
The convoy is, by and large, a fringe group an unfortunate minority in which a further minority of insidious extremists lurk. They are driven by a generalized rage, misplaced anger about supply chain challenges and antigovernment sentiment.
Time and time again we learn the lesson that teaches us that rage-soaked antigovernment types cant be reasoned with. This time around, the convoy has produced an incoherent memorandum of understanding premised upon a misunderstanding of government and absurd demands. Of course, the memo should be ignored. Its the product of a temper tantrum.

Boycott Overstock!!!
A very apolitical friend of mine called my attention to this article and suggested that We boycott overstock. To encourage her, I told her I would bring up the idea on a political forum. I'm hoping to get a lot of recs in order to encourage her!

A former Trump administration aide and a leader with a pro-Trump Christian group are helping Patrick Byrne, the multimillionaire Overstock founder and ex-CEO, run a nonprofit that has pushed false election conspiracy claims, according to a filing reviewed by CNBC.
Byrne, who was also longtime CEO of online furniture retailer Overstock, has an estimated net worth of about $75 million, according to data compiled by Celebrity Net Worth. Earlier this year, he self-published a book called The Deep Rig: How Election Fraud Cost Donald J. Trump the White House
