Rachel's Bombshell

Donald Trump did business in Cuba during the Embargo just before he ran for president the first time...more tomorrow.

Liberals Have the Wrong Fears About Hillary’s #NeverTrump Outreach

Conservative efforts to portray Hillary Clinton as unusually nefarious have steered the GOP into political cul-de-sacs from Vince Foster to the Benghazi Committee. Republicans have built up such a vast anti-Clinton hate debt that they’ve become incapable of acknowledging that Clinton is a largely conventional, mainstream politician. Doing so, after all, would reveal the underlying fraud to their voters.

We need a New Map.

I was looking for some data about polling and stumbled on this video...very interesting. The current map we use makes it seem as if our elections are much closer than they really are. Also, the GOP starts with a huge deficit with California and now that they have lost Virginia...they are on the ropes every presidential year. This is why Pennsylvania which Republicans have not won in years is a must win state for them. I hope you find this interesting

I have never asked the admins before so

I could not figure out how to answer you guys... I noticed that a post in a thread got hidden...I had said something similar so I assumed I was violating TOS and deleted my post...I deleted or altered all posts that were similar. The posts were about the behavior of some delegates at the convention. You can't tell what is in hidden posts as it is removed completely ( good idea)...I just happened to notice this post and when it was hidden...I was worried. I am trying to follow rules and not get into hot water as I did before. Thanks for your response. I do want unity so we can elect a Democratic president in November.

I would like a clarification on the rules

I have been disturbed by what is happening at the convention...the booing of Democrats etc. Now I noticed that several posts were hidden who claimed that those involved in the disruptions and booing are not Democrats...but are Greens or even Trump supporters. Some told reporters they would not vote for Hillary. That hardly makes me conclude they are Democrats. However, I have reviewed my posts. I have deleted those that might be in violation of the rules and altered other post for the same reason. I would appreciate a clarification on this matter. I wish to follow the rules which allow for more civil discourse. I think that things are working well after the switch to GE.

Bernie’s road ahead: Three options for the sunset of his campaign

If you’re shocked by the fact that Bernie Sanders didn’t acknowledge Hillary Clinton’s historic clinching of the Democratic nomination Tuesday night, you probably haven’t read the captivating new article in Politico, this week, “Inside the bitter last days of Bernie’s revolution,” in which it’s clear that Bernie isn’t anywhere near the headspace required to give Hillary the credit she’s more than earned today. He congratulated her, and that was it. We might not see anything more than that, at least until next week at the earliest — if at all. We’ll circle back to this presently.

If the reporting in Politico is accurate, Bernie isn’t a happy revolutionary these days. The once noble, principled champion of the people has apparently been consumed by ego and bitterness, and it’s not all surprising to those of us who’ve been following along with an objective eye

Warren For VP! Screw it, Hillary Clinton should definitely pick the Massachusetts senator...

Going nuts because such face-to-face meetings in someone’s home during campaigns are frequently the harbingers of a running mate announcement. Warren is wildly popular amongst Democrats, especially those who put a priority on fighting income inequality and the shenanigans of Wall Street and other capitalist vultures who have done so much damage to our economy. Because of this, there’s been chatter for months about Warren as a potential running mate for Clinton, to shore up Clinton’s image as a true progressive and to keep these issues at the forefront of the campaign as Bernie Sanders does his fade-out.

But there’s also been a chorus of skeptics, and I’ve been one. Not because of any objection to Warren herself! On the contrary, I’m a massive Elizabeth Warren fangirl who pins gold stars and hearts to her picture that I have hanging over my bed.

Leonard Pitts: Bernie Sanders looking more like a sore loser

“You can’t always get what you want.” — The Rolling Stones

A few words in defense of pragmatism.

That ideal has taken quite a beating lately, mostly at the hands of Bernie Sanders and his supporters. The Vermont senator faces a virtually impossible deficit in his battle with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Pragmatism would seem to suggest it’s time for him to pack it in.

But pragmatism don’t know Bernie. Or Bernie Nation.

If this weren’t clear before, it has been made abundantly so in the last two weeks, beginning with Sanders supporters in Las Vegas tearing open the Nevada Democratic convention in a protest so angrily chaotic it was shut down by security, fearing violence. But Sanders supporters weren’t done yet; they also sent death threats to party officials.

The proximate cause of this Trumpish behavior was a dispute over rules, a claim that, as Sanders’ campaign manager put it, the convention had been “hijacked” to award more delegates to Hillary Clinton. Politico rated that false.

In a Monday interview, Sanders told the Associated Press that this summer’s convention could be “messy,” though he later insisted that was not a tacit suggestion of violence.

Given the intensity of the emotions at play and the behavior of his supporters in Vegas, it’s hard to see how it could have been anything but. Which is disappointing. A few days ago, Sanders’ campaign seemed headed for an honorable legacy. But he has apparently decided instead upon a legacy of peevishness and sore losing, which is, as Frank Bruni noted a few weeks back in The New York Times, a hallmark of this political epoch."

Too Easy: How Republicans Would Tear Apart an Unvetted Bernie Sanders in the General Election

Bernie Sanders should have never gotten this far.

"For nearly eight months, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was able to skate by thanks to a willing media in bad need of a horse race on the Democratic side. Sure, it would be a historic first in our country for a woman to be the first ever nominee from a major political party, but that kind of history is so boring. There's no drama in having a clear frontrunner, running a clean campaign, avoiding any major slip ups or scandals all while running against a weak, inept, and single-issue fringe candidate with no real legislative accomplishments to his name. By giving the race the sense of being a "coronation" the networks knew that the majority of viewers wouldn't be tuning it, despite that opportunity to see what the history books will eventually show as being a historical campaign. The media needed drama and the only way to create drama was to create a sense that the race was much closer than it actually was.

So like the good little Orwellian puppets that they are, our media did everything it could to create a horse race when one never existed. Sanders does well in Iowa and New Hampshire? The media simply ignores the fact that the demographics there play to Sanders' strengths. Sanders gets destroyed in South Carolina? The media simply ignores the fact that it's clear he hasn't won over the increasingly integral African-American voting bloc. Sanders struggles to win over Latinos?"
