A Night at the Garden, documentary, short

Run time, 7:06

About
In 1939, 20,000 Americans rallied in New York’s Madison Square Garden to celebrate the rise of Nazism – an event largely forgotten from American history. A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, made entirely from archival footage filmed that night, transports audiences to this chilling gathering and shines a light on the power of demagoguery and anti-Semitism in the United States.

A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN was directed and edited by Marshall Curry and was supported and released by Field of Vision. The film was nominated for a 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short; it was also an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and was part of a special screening and panel discussion at the New York Film Festival. It was released on 22 Alamo Theater screens across the country and at The IFC Center in NYC.

Credits
MARSHALL CURRY is an Academy Award®-winning filmmaker who has directed both documentary and fiction films. Most recently, Curry won the Oscar for The Neighbors’ Window, a short narrative film that he wrote and directed. He was previously nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy for his documentary Street Fight, which follows Cory Booker’s first run for mayor of Newark, NJ. His follow-up documentary, Racing Dreams, tells the story of two boys and a girl who live in rural America and dream of one day racing in NASCAR. It won numerous awards, including Best Documentary Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival, and aired on PBS and the BBC. His third film, If A Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front, peels back the layers of a radical environmental group that the FBI called the number one domestic terrorist group in the United States. That film won the award for Best Documentary Editing at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to be nominated for an Oscar. Marshall was Executive Producer and an additional editor of Mistaken For Strangers, a comedy rock-doc about indie band The National. In 2014, Curry directed and edited Point and Shoot, a documentary about a young Baltimore native who set out on a 30,000-mile motorcycle trip through Northern Africa and the Middle East and wound up joining the rebels in Libya fighting Gaddafi. It won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released in theaters and aired on PBS and the BBC. Curry is a graduate of Swarthmore College where he studied Comparative Religion and has been a guest lecturer at Harvard, Duke, Columbia, NYU, and other colleges.

No paywall, DMH. Even if there was here's a tip...

1) Copy the link for whatever article you want to read that is behind a paywall.
2) Go to https://archive.ph/ this is the web page archive site

Archive.today is a time capsule for web pages!
It takes a 'snapshot' of a webpage that will always be online even if the original page disappears.
It saves a text and a graphical copy of the page for better accuracy and provides a short and reliable link...

3) Search for an archived copy in the black search bar, with a few options included as additional links. If your search comes up empty then...
4) Archive it yourself in the red search bar. It takes only a couple of minutes and then you have an archived version of the article for yourself and others who may want access to the article.

I hope you find this helpful.

The weak minded GQPers are complaining about the "satanic" red background.

As usual these idiots can't see past their turned up, snotty noses.
Zooming out, we see the background colors were very patriotic, inclusive, grounding.

They could have been happy, grateful even to see the color red. After all, they usually claim it's theirs. So it's just another missed opportunity for them to truly embrace our history and support democracy.

Pan out and we see the total picture. Something their closed, feeble minds can't do, expand toward the truth.

Because here's the true, total picture. It's the actual background for President Biden's speech. Our "be a uniter, not a divider" president stood with these colors. The colors that don't run, but lead the way. The red, the white and the blue...

They can't support these colors. They won't even try.

About littlemissmartypants

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
