The "News Narrative:" The Socialist -v- The Billionaire.

That's what the big Newz Media players are dubbing it.

BBC calls it the "Leftist" -v- the Billionaire. NPR calls it the &quot d) (D) Socialist" -v- the "Billionaire." One candidate is defined by a political label, the other by an increasingly generic monetary status. However one might construe the meaning of these labels, one thing is for sure: MSM seems comfortable shirking its duty to tell us about the politics one one of the candidates, forcing the voter to puzzle over a Gates strain of billionaire, or a Bloomberg strain, or a Carlos Slick, or an UberFacedMadoff strain. If pressed, the "Billionaire" is inflammatory, or riding a "wave of dissent and anger" who should "dial it back 20%." No mentioned on of racism, sexism, sink-or-swim economics, or sword-rattling.

But the other is still a socialist.

I'll say it again: Bernie is opposed by MSM, the Democratic Party, the economic elites, and our present administration. And I'll say again as well, at some point soon, progressives WILL talk to the TPs and the disaffected GOP tRump depends on. To win, we have no choice.

Two deer hunts on successive weekends, starting tomorrow...

The first in Coryell County on a beautiful piece of land; mesa, many oaks, 40 acre field, non-stop spring, and appropriately run-down farm house with top-flight well water. Possible bonus: the second half of dove season starts today, so if I get a deer early, it's off to the fields, or snap shooting through the mesa!

The second in upper Uvalde County is along the Nueces River. May have a chance at an axis deer. Large, recently-built lodge with no internet connections or T.V. service; only old videos for the screen. If turkey are about, same applies to them! Should be a good Christmas.

GLITCH: unable to post reply...

Blank screen or many "Notice: use of undefined content..."

Followed by:

"Warning: not safe relying on time zone settings". An endless list.

Has this been cleared by 3:20 CST? Thanks

Best wishes to the progressive 2A defenders in DU...

...and in this group. I have seen from "our side" an increase in OPs in GD referencing guns, and this is a good thing. By now, posters here probably realize that, IMO, the GD Forum is pretty much wide-open to gun postings. Again, IMO, more of the quality OPs posted here would contribute more fully if posted in GD.

NOTE: From communications with two Hosts in GD, it would appear that the threshhold for allowing the gun "exception" to be in effect is when an example of the new, ill-defined "mass shooting" is in effect. Since that hazy definition can be met any number of ways, and anti-2A news aggregators have become tantamount to a major news outlet stamp-of-approval, gun postings now seem full-time. One host has told me in confidence that a power struggle has resulted in essentially a situation where one (1) person can overrule the others when most hosts favor a lock due to SOP violation; this is supposedly based on some kind of "consensus" process.

I POST THIS HERE as a way to better advance gun control and Second Amendment issues. If the process has materially changed, it is in the best interests of All in these debates to know where to post. If anyone -- including Hosts in GD -- wish to weigh in with corrections and questions, please do so. Greater clarity and fair play should guide everyone in DU.

Trump is a successful bully, and in charge. How do we deal with it?

He has supporters and "body guards" who physically beat down their opponents, and he does this with evident impunity, even with politically positive results; we all know this. Here is how to face the problem: The U.S. is a celebrity culture where the coin of the realm is dominating the discussion and getting all the attention. Nah, it ain't money anymore as most people now realize they aren't in that game. But any nitwit can get some kind of attention and notoriety by doing something outrageous. The "Only in America" dream is re-born in our country with a vengeance and a million formats.

Liberals, progressives and the arbiters of T.V., gaming, Hollywood, and a thousand university RTF departments have always been the assumed masters of the celebrity culture. But their exalted power over what is cool, what is not, and what can be criticized with great gravitas has fallen on its face along with the buxom hot date what they came with, Mass Media. MSM survives now chiefly as a crappy Congo Square for anyone who can sell themselves and "Win!"

And tRump is the master of Celebrity and entertainment in this culture.

We can always mumble about how he will step in it, and end on his ass. Maybe he will. But waiting for it is not good politics; passive aggressiveness is best left in the analyst's office, not promo'd in the social sphere. What we libs and progs need to do is show our stuff at what we are presumed best at: Putting egg on a blowhard's face, pulling the rug from under a tin pot dictator-in-waiting; in short where is our Swanee River Hat & Cane? Where is our ability to wreak sublime embarrassment? Where is our Guerrilla Theater?

If we can't back this punkeroo up against the wall using our strong suit, how will anyone believe we can come up with change and improvement beyond the droll jargon-jive that marks our discussion, now?

Let's hear some ideas! Let's start a series! Let's take over the stage ourselves!

tRump didn't get on SNL. He IS SNL.

After the Paris attacks, will gun sales go up?

With civilian arms sales already at record levels (nearly 2,000,000 per month), will there be another boost in domestic sales?

And what of France? Will its laws be relaxed?

General gun deer season open in TX Saturday, November 7!

Long-range forecast where I'll be going has Saturday coming off two days of rainy weather, with hi temps in the 60s, partly cloudy, -10 mph northerlies. Should be excellent on the mesa where I will post up. Quiet walking, too. Earlier, the dove season was a bust due to lack of rain and consequential lack of sunflower crop. But the browse for deer has made a comeback, esp. with the mammoth rains we've had. We have antler restriction in this county, so I may just get a good-size doe.

Nothing like being on a breezy mesa in the fall!

I informed Skinner of my support for darkangel's proposal for a SD Group in DU.

I believe that darkangel wants the group to be a safe haven to cut back on the extremely vitriolic expressions in opposition to self-defense discussions. This does not look like another gun group.
