I didn't see any voting numbers in the HuffPo article.
I realize the primary numbers will be different from a regular election, but would find them interesting.
High praise for Erica Lafferty
for her courage in confronting Sen. Ayotte.
She's still facing her loss and grief, but bears the pain of having to deal with the affront of the clueless Senator.
The gun came from the student's home.
It was locked in a gun safe.
The student, being intelligent, knew how and when he could obtain access to the safe. (Just as the Newtown CT student, also intelligent knew how to obtain access to his mother's gun safe.
Anyone who believes keeping guns in a gun safe is sufficient protection against a family member finding a way to get to the guns is fooling themselves. Maybe it will keep a toddler away from the guns, but not a sufficiently motivated person, who will watch and figure out t way. There really aren't too many well-kept secrets within a family - most family members know what is going on and how to get what they want, if not right now, then eventually.
I live in the county in which this tragedy took place. There is much upset at this turn of events.
Creationism- I don't know of any Catholics
who believe in it, because the Church doesn't preach that. I don't know what "fundamentalist belief" you're referring to regarding the Vatican.
"Schools and monasteries came over from the old world" ? Catholic schools in the U.S. were begun early in the 1800's by Mother Elizabeth Seton, a widow with children and a convert from the Episcopal Church. The schools were strongly supported by Catholics because in that period the public schools taught from the Protestant Bible, which teaching continued well into the end of the 19th century in many places.
As for sending their kids to Catholic schools - you bet they do, because most understand that the education and structure their children get is well worth the cost, and the education is usually balanced and superior to public school, at least in urban areas.
The only problem is that tuition in many parochial schools has become too expensive for many to afford, without nuns offering their services for low pay. Therefore, some Catholics now send their children to public grade and high school in order that they'll be able to assist their children in paying for college.

That often causes a type of dementia, which may leave as time heals.
If that were to be so, she would be vulnerable to having a repeat episode.
Attending Mass, either at the vigil (Saturday evening) or
Sunday, late morning.
Being of the senior variety, convenience of hours is important to me, so I often attend at a neighboring parish rather than my own parish. I'm usually on my own at these outings, except when out-of-town son is visiting, when he accompanies me.
Frequently chat with other church-goers afterward - sometimes at a fellowship offered by the parish. This social function is an extra reward to me for continuing the effort to attend weekly.
Often make a stop at a pharmacy, grocery, or drive-through eatery (for bagel or tacos) which I take to a nearby park, eating while relaxing & taking in the beauty and activity all around.
If I have household chores to do, I do them on the Sabbath, knowing that the Lord understands that my energy level is limited and must be spread out over the whole week to accomplish what's necessary

Senior person here, poli sci & history studies; never took a chemistry course.
Some of those terms were not even known (to average person) when I was in school.
Excuses don't count, though.
It's true that Christ revealed his wounds to Thomas,
according to the Gospels.
I presume that was because Thomas had a need to see them, in order to believe.
Whether He had them before or after that instance, I have no idea. After all, He was/is the God/Man.
