I'm actually in favor of year-round Daylight Saving Time.

I hate the early darkness in afternoons during the late fall & winter months.
People coming home from work or doing evening chores have to work in virtual darkness, at a time when it's coldest.
Problems with other states' time differences can be solved as they come around to the same conclusions.

It would be better for Cincinnati and the city council if Young stepped down.

He's a retired Police officer and gets a good retirement there, one would think.
Young has little to offer in way of improving the city; others can do much better.
He misses many committee meetings, which are an inherent part of the process of getting anything done..
His health is compromised; he had a heart problem during last year's election season and for all practical purposes didn't participate. His name recognition, Democratic endorsement and wife's efforts pulled it off for him.

Some might think he's just collecting an easy paycheck.

Carl Lindner III, from Cincinnati Ohio, is from family of large donors to Republican party.

I'm old enough to remember when the Lindner family, which originated in Norwood Ohio from humble background, were not accepted socially by Cincinnati's elite.
Carl Lindner Jr., a devout Baptist, was generous to Jewish causes as well as many philanthropies in the Cincinnati area.

Dear friend Sprinkleeninow, know that you are and will be in the prayers and thoughts

of the many you have consoled and reached out to on DU.

I also know that you are part of a strong faith community who will wrap their arms around you and bring you the strength you will need at this time and into the future.

We at DU will miss you and your wisdom, but we can go to the many offerings you have posted in the classical music group and choose to listen to what ever suits us at the moment.

Take very good care of yourself during this difficult time, and feel the love of so many.

Surname at birth is Kelly, second most numerous name in Ireland.

My Kellys came to Philadelphia in 1820, but later marriages included some famine-era Irish - Savage, Fallon. Even my German ancestors changed their name from Kuhn (with umlaut) to Keene.

Maternal is French-Canadian & German.

I used to love the Sears catalogue. Items were available there that could not be found elsewhere.

In particular, I recall ordering the bottom half - pants- of children's sleepers.
The bottom half always wore out sooner than the tops, due to children learning to crawl while wearing their sleepers.
So I had many tops by bottoms with holes in them.
Sears came through with bottoms from their catalogues.

The good old days......

Congratulations! I always take my shoes off before weighing and would take off my watch

and rings if I thought that would help.
Seriously, wear light-weight clothing for medical weigh purposes.
Why use a belt when each once makes a difference.
Also, empty your bladder and try to not have a full bowel.
Good luck on your travels and cruises - now that is difficult.

Are 90% over 50? Do 30's and 40's think bikes are cool?

Do 30's and 40's have the cash and time for bikes?

Except for losing the one hour of sleep, I welcome DST, for longer, later daylight....

But then, I'm a night-owl, who never sees dawn no matter how the clocks are set.
