U.S. diplomats reportedly told to avoid eye contact with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has gained a reputation for being rather reclusive in his role as the nation's new top diplomat — and a report suggests he might even have trouble looking people in the eye.

The former Exxon Mobil executive has mostly remained below the radar since Inauguration Day, making few public appearances and drawing ire for choosing to travel without a press pool.

Tillerson's lone wolf behavior apparently extends to his own staff, with career diplomats at the State Department telling the Washington Post on Thursday that they have yet to meet their boss.

The same diplomats have also been instructed to not speak to Tillerson directly — "or even make eye contact," according to The Post.

U.S. priority on Syria no longer focused on 'getting Assad out'

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-usa-haley-idUSKBN1712QL

The United States' diplomatic policy on Syria for now is no longer focused on making the war-torn country's president, Bashar al-Assad, leave power, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said on Thursday, in a departure from the Obama administration's initial and public stance on Assad's fate.

The view of the Trump administration is also at odds with European powers, who insist Assad must step down. The shift drew a strong rebuke from at least two Republican senators.

Trump Repeals Regulation Protecting Workers From Wage Theft

The regulation was meant to ensure that shady employers don’t benefit from taxpayer dollars.

By Dave Jamieson

WASHINGTON ― Companies that commit wage theft and put their workers in harm’s way just received a favor from the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump signed a bill Monday repealing a regulation that had encouraged federal contractors to follow labor laws. Under the Obama-era rule, companies with an egregious record of violating wage and safety laws would lose their government contracts if they didn’t come into compliance.

The idea behind the rule was to make sure unscrupulous employers didn’t receive taxpayer dollars. But Republicans in Congress thought the rule was too punitive and unfair to businesses. They used an arcane tool known as the Congressional Review Act in an effort to kill the regulation, which was called the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces rule.

By approving the legislation sent to him by the Senate, Trump has ensured not only that the regulation will die, but also that no similar regulation can be put forth by the Labor Department again. Trump signed the legislation at a White House ceremony in front of the press.

“When President Trump has a chance to stand with workers, he chooses not to,” Heidi Shierholz, a labor policy expert at the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute, said in a statement. “By blocking this rule, the president and congressional Republicans will ensure that taxpayers will continue to support contractors with a history of wage theft and health and safety violations.”

Ted Koppel tells Fox News Sean Hannity he is bad for America

Ted Koppel had some bad news for Sean Hannity.

The retired “Nightline” host told Fox News’ Hannity to his face that he is “bad for America” in a TV interview that aired Sunday.
Koppel spoke with Hannity in a “CBS Sunday Morning” segment about political polarization and “alternate universes” of facts in America. The veteran newsman showed clips of Hannity and Rush Limbaugh — as well as left-wing comedians like John Oliver and Stephen Colbert — as examples of media figures who are “driving the country further and further apart.”

But Hannity — one of President Trump’s biggest boosters at the conservative news network — got some harsh truths delivered straight to him by Koppel in an interview.Koppel was unmoved by Hannity's argument that Americans are smart enough to tell the difference between news and opinion shows.

“Do you think we’re bad for America? You think I’m bad for America?” Hannity asked.“Yeah,” Koppel calmly told him.
He noted that Hannity is “very good” at what he does and continued his argument — after calling out Hannity for repeatedly interrupting him.

“You have attracted people who are determined that ideology is more important than facts," Koppel said.
Hannity lashed out at the segment on Twitter, calling it “fake edited news” and accusing CBS of cutting down a much longer interview.“I did about a 45 minute interview with CBS. They ran less than 2. Why did Ted cut out my many examples of media bias?” he wrote.Koppel, who retired in 2005, has been outspoken in his distaste for Fox News before. Speaking to Bill O’Reilly last March, Koppel told the Fox host he had made reporting on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign “irrelevant.”

“You have changed the television landscape over the past 20 years. You took it from being objective and dull to subjective and entertaining. And in this current climate, it doesn’t matter what the interviewer asks him — Mr. Trump is gonna say whatever he wants to say, as outrageous as it may be,” Koppel told O’Reilly.

He just blamed the Dems. Wait there's a Republican house and senate .rofl

Then you said, you alone can fix this. Remember. You didn't need the Dems.

1. Blamed the Dems
2. Said the Dems are uncivilized
3. Said Obamacare is bad, bad like 10 times
4. Thanked the Republican party
5. Blamed Nancy Pelosi
6. Blaming the Dems again
7. He won't take responsibility for this
