Definition of insanity.
In your dreams, pal.
I once knew a pit like that.
Not that it would've been a good idea for anyone to yank his figurative chain, but his name was Wimpy because he loved hamburgers as much as Popeye's friend. It freaked out people who didn't know him when he'd grab them by the hand and shake it back and forth in greeting.
One time when I hadn't seen him for awhile, I stopped by to visit his owner; when I sat down he leaped in my lap. Well, I had makeup on so I tilted my head back to avoid his sloppy kisses and the poor boy must've mistaken my neck for a wrist. He latched his jaws carefully around my neck and started to shake 'hands'. I wasn't scared, but I did ask my friend to distract him with a treat. The event was a bit stimulating. Lordy how I do miss that dog.
"I'm just wild about Harry..."
Well, ok, so what if that song originated in the Truman era so far as I remember, but for me it applies to Reid as well. Detractors try to unman him with cries of 'Wimp!' but he's no wimpier than PBO. That soft voice is real but potentially misleading to idiots. Too many don't realize Harry was a Golden Gloves champ. Doesn't make any difference for his politics, but I happen to love both. I also happen to believe there's every chance he and President Obama play good cop/bad cop in public sometimes. Not deceptive... though it is why it's known as the art of politics. Perfectly legitimate tactic when used for the greater common good of the republic. Rahm Emmanuel was good at it too, if far less versatile because even as a general supporter I have trouble envisioning him in role of 'good cop'. Too much terrier in him. Or as I fondly like to say, including my own, a 'terrierist'.
Anyhow, I always cheer on anyone who's chewing on a Koch. BTW, I might've named my female smooth-coat JRT after Rahm except I couldn't devise a female version of his name.
While I definitely believe women should and someday will be Catholic priests -
Mother Theresa herself told JPII to his dear face that we'd make better ones! - I always laugh when people think male priests overrun the nuns. I never knew a priest in my life that wasn't just a little afraid of them, as it should be.
I believe you're right. Why wave a white flag even before an election? That's what looks wimpy
and puts off potential Dem voters. We're not going to get the wingnut vote anyhow; why not march in as united, proud Dems?
As you might guess, I'm not a natural part of Esquire's target demographic. However,
on my news feed I got a referral to Pierce's story about SP at the CPAC. I've bookmarked it so let me know if you need a link. I just figured most people on DU had heard it from somewhere before I got to it. Anyway, I'm now a huge Charles Pierce fan. No, make that HUGE. He did the best chop job on her that I could hope for. Most beautiful piece of surgery I've ever seen. So now I have someone else to keep up with. Well, them's the breaks, huh? But I will practically kiss the feet of anybody who can slaughter my sworn enemy like that. I think I'm in love!
Most were not disadvantaged by the previous system? Huge numbers were. In some southern states,
they couldn't get Medicaid if they earned less than enough to keep a church mouse alive. The Medicaid rules vary wildly from state to state, and that needs to change. Maybe the exact overall percentage of disadvantaged didn't top 51% nationwide, but believe me the total number would be staggering. Besides the fact that even comfortable middle class people could be wiped out by one severe illness.
Talk about something else if you will; I understand your reasoning. But the ACA most definitely is a BFD to millions.
Some guy ran a non-campaign as a write in - that's all anybody knew about him -
but he used the name Johnson. Apparently it's a pretty popular name. He got around 10% of the vote. Sorry I don't remember all the exact details, they're not important anyway. But it's a true story, take it or leave it. I couldn't prove to anyone via internet what I had for breakfast either. Smith or Jones would probably be a good last name for political purposes.
