Townhall: Let's Be Honest, There was Nothing Conservative About the Confederacy

I don't normally post articles from RW rags on here but this one really stood out.

But slavery and the short-lived Confederate States of America aren’t sources of pride, nor do they need to be honored. It’s time to throw the Confederate flag on the ash heap of history—not because the flag is “politically incorrect,” but the battle flag of a country that no longer exists, representing people who so disliked the United States that they seceded and attempted to start something better. It’s hard to wave a Confederate flag and call yourself an American patriot.

Italians Found Way to 3-D Print Key Ventilator Piece for $1, face lawsuit from patent holder

After two Italian volunteers used a 3-D printer to manufacture a desperately needed ventilator component for those stricken by the coronavirus, the medical company with the patent for the device threatened to sue—even as the printed valves saved at least 10 people's lives in a hospital in the northern Italian city of Brescia.

"There were people whose lives were in danger, and we acted," Cristian Fracassi, who along with fellow volunteer Alessandro Ramaioli made the valves, said in a Facebook post on Sunday. "Period."

Zimbabwe Gives Land Back to White Farmers

Two decades after President Robert Mugabe wrecked Zimbabwe’s economy by urging black subsistence farmers to violently force white commercial farmers and their workers off their land, his successor has thrown in the towel.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has proposed settling all outstanding claims against it by farmers by offering them land.

Bob Mugabe and ZANU-PF epically fucked up Zimbabwe's economy and now his successors have to try and piece it back together.

A Proposal

If we do take the government trifecta this year I propose a constitutional amendment in response to the blatant abuse of the power by Trump:

The power to issue pardons and commutations will be vested in a commission of six lawyers, chaired by the Chief Justice.

Three lawyers are chosen by the president's party and 3 are chosen by the opposition.

Not perfect but it might put the brakes on future pardon mills.
