No, it is NOT OK to electrocute children. Electrocution is a Republican idea.

I feel certain we can easily child-proof gorilla cages

But after the unwatched child climbs under the fence no fair complaining when he is knocked unconscious by the electricity in the secondary wire barrier.

Extreme Parenting: To Leash or Not to Leash?

June 25, 2012

By ELIZA MURPHY

via GOOD MORNING AMERICA

It's becoming almost a common sight-and a great debate for any modern family. To leash or not to leash small children? For parents across the country, there is no middle ground.

Mother of four and family psychologist Kristen Howerton of New York City says she was given a safety harness as a gift.

"I felt a little funny about it. We were on vacation with my sister-in-law in Seattle. I was juggling a bunch of children and worried about someone running out, and she said 'Why don't you put this on your daughter?' So I did and it just kind of made sense," said Howerton.

But when Howerton, 37, used the harness she said she got so many looks she put it away and hasn't used it a lot. People were glaring at her and making comments about how it's a child and not a dog.

There were some benefits to using the harness, however.

"It was great. My daughter was walking freely she felt like she had freedom, but I felt like she was safe. It was a great experience other than other people," Howerton said.

Child psychologist Tina Bryson explained why she believes parents are choosing to leash their kids.

"A lot of times the parents who are using it are using it because it's based on a child's behavior that they've seen," said Bryson.

For Howerton, whose husband was hit by a car, it's all about safety, regardless of the criticism.

Yes, Meredith Clark really IS on the faculty of the University of Northern Texas.

I saw a post questioning her academic credentials in a group that I no longer post in.

She actually believes gun free zones work? And admits it? And is a professor?

So I did a quick google, and found this:

Meredith Clark

Assistant Professor

Now, in the OP article, she says as much in the title, not to mention again in the text of the article, as well.

I’m A Black Female College Professor in Texas. Should I Get a Gun?

I have serious concerns about campus carry.

In addition, the article has what appears to be a photograph of her actually teaching in the classroom.

A quick google could have removed all doubts regarding her academic credentials, and avoided the ugly suggestion to the contrary.

People should be allowed to disagree with Trump on an issue such as gun-free zones without their academic credentials coming under question.

Google is your friend.

Use it.

Gun safety advocates pray for NRA members holding annual meeting in Louisville

Gun safety advocates pray for NRA members holding annual meeting in Louisville

As tens of thousands of National Rifle Association members continued their annual meeting in Louisville this weekend , a group of gun control advocates gathered at a local university to pray for them, asking God to “open their minds and their hearts”.

“We gather this morning, your children, to pray for peace, to pray for an end to gun violence that takes away too many lives,” the Rev Dr Peggy Cecil-Hinds told a group of more than 150 in a quiet auditorium filled with folding chairs.

“Lord, we pray this morning for our brothers and sisters that are at the NRA convention, for they too are children of God,” she said. “We pray that you will speak to them this day … and that you will open their minds and their hearts to see the good in all people, to value the lives of every man, woman and child.

“Not all the people who are part of the NRA are people who want violence, and many, many of them agree with us that commonsense gun laws are important and necessary.”

At the screening of Under the Gun on Saturday, quilts commemorating victims of gun violence were displayed on the walls. A small packet of tissues rested on the chair at the end of each row.

Activists recited the number of Americans killed with guns each year, focusing on suicide, children killed by guns, domestic violence and the deaths of young African American men and women.

Cecil-Hinds, interim executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches, said many NRA members “are Christian people who believe that what they are doing is right”.

“If we speak out against them without praying for them, then we do an injustice to God’s work in the world,” she said. “God calls us to be one body and love one another. Jesus said, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’ That’s why I do it.”

Pastor Sharon Kutz-Mellem, another local organizer, said she prayed for victims of gun violence with her congregations each week, and that she was motivated to take more action to address gun violence by the mass shooting at a historic black church in Charleston last June.

A group of people carrying guns had showed up at a recent meeting of Kentucky gun control advocates, spokeswoman Taylor Maxell said, adding that if that happened again, it could be a traumatic experience for some gun violence survivors.

I'm reminded of the words of Cesar Chavez on the uses of prayer.

"We are militant. You have to be militant to stand on a picket line with a gun pointed at your head. You have to be militant to keep pressure on growers all the time, pushing them back from barrier to the next...We have found prayer important in nonviolent work, but it's most effective when accompanied by lots of hard picketing"

Georgia Ammosexual gets metalic penis back

What would it take for us to start just saying "NO!"?

Georgia Restores Gun Rights to Ex-Cop Who Tried to Sexually Assault a Woman With His Gun

By Ian Millhiser, ThinkProgress

25 August 14

Georgia appeals courts decision upholding the sexual assault conviction of a former cop named Dennis Krauss is difficult to read. According to the record in Krauss’ trial, the former officer was dispatched to the home of a woman who called 911 alleging that her husband had hit her. Rather than arresting the husband, however, Krauss asked the victim to ride with him in his police car. Once she was in his car, “Krauss told the victim that he could take her to jail if he wanted to” or, if she did not want to be arrested, she could have sex with him instead. Krauss’ words, according to the court opinion, were “e can go to the motel or you can go to jail.”

At the motel, Krauss drew his service weapon and told the woman that he wanted to anally penetrate her with the gun. When she refused, and began to cry, “Krauss then pushed her back, pulled off her pants, and had sex with her.” And then he drove her home to the same husband that led her to call the police in the first place.

Krauss was convicted of sexual assault against a person in custody, and this one instance of sexual assault is far from the only allegation against him. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “is record was filled with allegations of misconduct: that he beat a prisoner so severely the man’s brain bled; that he threatened to fabricate charges against a suspect so he could sleep with the man’s wife; that he pressured at least 10 women for sex to avoid arrest.” The former cop, for his part, is unrepentant. When asked about his sexual assault conviction, he claims that “here wasn’t any crime,” and that “I was dealt a bad hand.”

And yet, in July of 2013, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles restored Krauss’ right to carry a firearm. According to a Journal-Constitution tally, he is one of 358 violent felons who regained these rights over a six year period. That includes 32 violent felons who killed someone, and 44 who committed sex crimes. One man regained his right to own a gun in 2012 after serving a 10 year sentence for child molestation and aggravated child molestation. Some offenders regained their gun rights after being convicted of crimes such as armed robbery, burglary or aggravated assault.

Kim Davis lawyer ‘taking a gun to women’s toilet’ to scare off transgender ‘perverts’

Kim Davis lawyer ‘taking a gun to women’s toilet’ to scare off transgender ‘perverts’

One of the lawyers who represented Kim Davis is taking a Glock handgun into the women’s toilets, just in case there are any transgender women in there.

Hardline Republicans are using trans bathroom rights as a ‘wedge issue’ to attack LGBT rights across the US, with a number of ‘bathroom bills’ aiming to stop trans people from using their preferred toilet.

One vile ad even depicted a man raping a little girl in a toilet. Rape, unsurprisingly, is a crime in all 50 states… but that hasn’t stopped one anti-LBGT lawyer from rallying against the law.

Anita Staver, the president of the right-wing Liberty Counsel which represented Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, tweeted that she will take a handgun into public toilets in future after Target affirmed a trans-inclusive bathroom policy.

Ms Staver tweeted: “I’m taking a Glock .45 to the ladies room. It identifies as my bodyguard. #BoycottTarget”.

She added: “I want protection from the perverts who will use the law to gain access to women.”

Her hubby Mat Staver is more well-known as the group’s chairman and public face.

A CBS investigation recently found the fingerprints of the Liberty Counsel on many of the bils targeting LGBT anti-discrimination protections and transgender bathroom rights that have been obligingly filed by Republican lawmakers across the US.

It found that the group’s leader Mat Staver, who had appeared countless times with Davis, had helped Republican lawmakers draft legislation for conservative lawmakers in at least 20 states.

&feature=youtu.be

He admitted: “There’s certainly a thread of information that is similar and the same… they all have the same intent and that is to protect religious freedom.”

“It is only about being free to pursue your faith. We have no interest in discriminating against anyone.”

But he insisted the gays and liberals were all to blame, continuing: “The Supreme Court in the 5-4 opinion on marriage in 2015 lit the house on fire.

“All we’re trying to do is control the fire at this point in time.”
