San Antonio cop fatally shot in head near police headquarters, during traffic stop.

A San Antonio cop has died after a gunman shot him in the head while making a traffic stop outside police headquarters Sunday, authorities said.

Marconi, a 20-year veteran of the force, wrote a ticket from inside his car, a black vehicle pulled up behind him, the chief said.

The driver then got out and walked up to the Marconi's opened car window, blasting one gunshot to his head and following another, which also struck him in the head, according to McManus.

After the suspect shot Marconi, he walked back to his car and drove into the south parking lot of police headquarters where he fled the scene from the west side of the building, he said.

Donald Trump Selects Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General

President-elect Trump has offered the Alabama senator the opportunity to be the nation's top prosecutor. Sessions has made racially-charged comments in the past, which previously prompted the Senate Judiciary Committee to deny him a position as a federal judge.

Central Student Government resolution to divest fails 34 to 13. University of Michigan

At their weekly meeting Tuesday, Central Student Government voted 34 to 13 to reject a resolution that would have called on the University of Michigan to divest its investments in several companies that allegedly commit human rights violations against Palestinians.

The resolution, which was brought to the assembly by student organization Students Allied for Freedom and Equality, initially considered a range of companies, but was limited during the meeting to only Boeing, G4S, Hewlett-Packard and United 130 Technologies. This is the 10th attempt since 2002 to pass a resolution to divest at the University, including in 2014 and 2015, following in the path of similar resolutions at many other schools around the country. The vote this year was less close than it has been in recent years.

"Mom, why are you crying? “I got to vote for a woman for president."

“Mom, why are you crying?” daughter Sarah Dean asks.

“I got to vote for a woman for president,” she replies.

The mother and daughter had just driven to a polling centre in Bozeman, Montana in order to cast a vote.

Dean uploaded the video and watched as it was swiftly picked up by media outlets worldwide.

Wilkinson told The Huffington Post she had been brought to tears thinking about how much women had sacrificed to be able to vote for a female candidate.

“To think about how far we’ve come,” she said.

“The fight and struggle just to vote for an intelligent, qualified, viable woman ― it was just sort of overwhelming to me on that morning.”

Gisele posts on Instagram that she and Tom Brady won't back Donald Trump

On Instagram, a commenter said Friday: “Gisele I head you and Tom were backing Trump! Is that true???”

Gisele responded: “NO!”

Unless they’ve decided to go with a third party candidate, it sounds like the Brady-Bundchen household will be voting in accordance with the blue state of Massachusetts. It’s sounds like they’re voting for Hillary Clinton.

Texas commissioner deletes tweet calling Clinton the C word. Running for reelection

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller’s campaign deleted a lewd tweet on Tuesday that called Hillary Clinton a “c***.”

Miller, a statewide official running for reelection, had apparently used the insult while touting poll results that showed Donald Trump doing surprising well against Clinton in Pennsylvania.

Miller’s office told the San Antonio Express-News that the commissioner’s account had been hacked, and that everyone with access to his tweets was in the same room with Miller when the message went out.

“We’re trying to get to the bottom of it. We think we’ve been hacked,” Mark Loeffler, Miller’s communications director, told the newspaper. “No one from the Sid Miller organization would ever put anything like that on Twitter,” Loeffler said.

TargetSmart background: Professors Launch Presidential Polling Campaign. Pew/NBC partner

Three College of William and Mary professors have teamed up with polling-aggregate company TargetSmart to create and provide voter-intent and opinion polls leading up to the Nov. 8 general election.

Government professors Jaime Settle, Dan Maliniak and Ron Rapoport are working with TargetSmart in an effort to provide accurate, diversified voter data for the upcoming election season. The project, which will conduct polling and collect data in the battleground states of Ohio, Florida and possibly Pennsylvania, will observe statewide opinions on candidates and expected voter turnout.

TargetSmart has previously been chosen by Pew Research as the baseline for a study on voting habits. According to Rapoport, TargetSmart was competing against multiple companies to provide the data to Pew.

“[Pew] felt that TargetSmart did the best work … they have a very strong reputation,” Rapoport said. “Pew’s selection of them is very, very impressive.”

"This groundbreaking relationship is the first of its kind, enabling a national news organization to use the same powerful data that has been available to candidates and campaigns.”
