CMU shooting: Shooting suspect in custody after 15-hour manhunt, university says

According to the university, the suspect was seen and reported by an individual on a train passing through the campus shortly after midnight. Law enforcement personnel responded and arrested the suspect without incident, the university said.

The capture ended a 15-hour manhunt. No other details were immediately available.

The university earlier identified the two dead as James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis. Records show they're from Plainfield, Illinois. Central Michigan University police said James Eric Davis, Jr. allegedly fatally shot his parents who had arrived at the dorm to pick him up from school, adding that the killings stemmed from a "domestic situation," according to CBS Detroit.

The shooting happened on a day when parents were arriving to pick up students for the beginning of a week-long spring break.

Central Michigan University Shooting: Parents gunned down by their son on college campus

More than 100 police officers, some heavily armed in camouflage uniforms, searched neighborhoods near Central Michigan University on Friday for a 19-year-old student suspected of killing his parents at a dormitory and then running from campus.

The shooting at Campbell Hall happened on a day when parents were arriving to pick up students for the beginning of a week-long spring break.

Police released a photo of James Eric Davis Jr., urging the public to call 911 if they see him but also warning that he shouldn’t be confronted. Hours after a campus lockdown, police started a “slow, methodical removal” of staff and students who were ordered to take shelter in campus buildings, Lt. Larry Klaus said.

“He should be considered armed and dangerous,” Klaus said of Davis.

The university identified the two dead as his mother Diva Davis and father James Davis Sr., a part-time police officer in the Chicago suburb of Bellwood. The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. at a residence hall at Central Michigan, which is about 70 miles (112.6 kilometers) north of Lansing.

Hate crime charges reinstated in Paris trial of Muslim accused of killing Jewish neighbor

The judge in the case of the murder of an Orthodox Jewish woman in Paris has declared the killing a hate crime, after originally scrapping those charges from the indictment of the murder suspect who confessed to killing the woman.

The examining magistrate on Tuesday reinstated the charge of murder aggravated by racial hatred, after the Paris Prosecutor’s office appealed his dismissal of the charge earlier this month.

Sarah Halimi, 65, was killed in April when her neighbor Kobili Traore, a 28-year-old Muslim man, threw her from the window of her third-story apartment. Traore was heard shouting about Allah and calling her “a devil” in Arabic. Halimi’s daughter said he had called the daughter a “dirty Jewess” in the building two years before the slaying of Halimi.

Traore is pleading temporary insanity, though he has though he has no history of mental illness.

The psychiatric report, issued in September, concluded that on the night of the incident Traore suffered an “acute delirium” after heavy cannabis use, but that the psychotic disorder did not exclude his criminal responsibility, “not incompatible with an anti-Semitic dimension,” Le Parisien reported.

Israeli natural gas company announces $15 billion export deal with Egypt

An Israeli energy company on Monday announced a $15 billion deal to supply natural gas to Egypt, in the largest export agreement to date for Israel's nascent natural gas industry.

Delek Drilling and its U.S. partner, Noble Energy, signed a deal to sell a total of 64 billion cubic meters of gas over a 10-year period to Egyptian company Dolphinus Holdings.

Yossi Abu, chief executive of Delek Drilling, called the deal "great news" for both countries.

He said he expects most of the gas to be used for Egypt's domestic market, but predicted it could pave the way for wider cooperation and help turn Egypt into an export hub for Israeli gas.

Dog Caught Secretly Riding One-Eyed Pony When Owners Aren't Home

“I can’t make this stuff up!!!” she writes in a post along with the video. “So we pull back in our driveway tonight and this is what we see. This is not our dog! But apparently him and Cricket the one eyed wonder pony are best friends. I’m stealing the dog, new circus act!”

Callie Schenker told the Springfield News-Leader that she thinks the dog’s name is Roper. She also said the corgi’s owners are Mennonites who tend to keep to themselves and don’t go online, so they likely have no clue their dog and her pet one-eyed pony, Cricket, are now Internet stars.

“The dog is my neighbors’… He randomly shows up. I guess I just caught him riding my [pony] at the perfect time! The dog didn’t get hurt! No the dog is not abused at his home, he just likes to travel the rural area we live. Cricket is fine, he lost his eye [sic]along time ago in an incident that had nothing to do with the dog! I DID not put the dog on the pony! Honestly I was pulling in my drive way from going to McDonalds when I seen this happening. I’m lucky I even got the video because my phone was nearly dead. I didn’t have any intentions of his video being viral. I just post a funny video I thought my friends would enjoy. I’m glad everyone got a good laugh out of this.”

Jeremy Corbyn's UK Labour Party welcomes back banned activists and Holocaust denier

A Holocaust denier and a leading member of Militant during its takeover of Liverpool council are among a first wave of expelled hard-left activists who have been readmitted to the Labour Party, it can be revealed today.

<snipped>

Another individual who has been readmitted, Mike Sivier, was suspended by Labour only last year for comments about Jews and Zionism. On his website, Sivier, 48, said it “may be entirely justified” to say Tony Blair had been “unduly influenced by a cabal of Jewish advisers”.

He also said he was “not pretending it was a big problem” if Jews were omitted from a list of Holocaust survivors, and claimed “I’m not going to comment” on whether thousands or millions of Jews died in the Holocaust as “I don’t know”.

Sivier, who wrote a book defending Ken Livingstone’s claims about Hitler and Zionism, entitled The Livingstone Presumption, has been readmitted on the basis that he attends a workshop about anti-semitism. But he told The Sunday Times he would boycott the event. “I’m not accepting my readmission under the terms offered to me,” he said.

Arizona House expels Rep. Don Shooter, citing 'dishonorable' pattern of workplace harassment #MeToo

The Arizona House of Representatives voted Thursday to immediately expel Rep. Don Shooter from office for "dishonorable" behavior after an investigation found he sexually harassed women over many years.

It was the first time since 1991 that a member of the Arizona Legislature was removed by fellow lawmakers.

House members voted 56-3 to oust Shooter, R-Yuma, after a dramatic flurry of events that led House Speaker J.D. Mesnard, who had initially proposed censuring Shooter, to push for his immediate removal.

"This is a horrifying day," said Mesnard, R-Chandler. "It’s no small thing to override the will of voters. I pleaded with Mr. Shooter to resign, to not force this vote. He would not back down."
