Autobahn. Kraftwerk 1974
Autobahn. Kraftwerk 1974. All the techno pop in the 80’s that you heard, it this group was responsible for all of it. Kraftwerk came out the German school of minimalist art. If not for this band, there would be no Devo or Wall of Voo Doo. They made the synthesizer a popular instrument. However, they weren’t interested in commercial success because they were weird artists. They were futurists. They wanted to portray the future as this robotic society. Well, I read about this album in rock magazines, most of reviews were positive. So, I bought it. At first, listening to L.P was a challenge. Plus the fact the lyrics were sung in German. It reminded me of cool Jazz and I got into it. However, they had a negative effect on the decade called the 80’s. These entire one hit wonder bands filled up the airways with this inept and insipid synthesizer music. Flock of pigeons anybody? I guess this was Germany revenge for bombing the shit out of their country in World War 2.
