Wisconsin job creation rank falls to 38th in U.S... nice job Walker!

Yeah, the country definitely wants this guy to have the keys to the US Economy. Huge tax breaks for the top 1% and austerity for everyone else. Slash and burn the state's University system. Trash public education and shift money to for-profit charter schools. It's working everyone! Big and Bold! It's working!!

From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

Wisconsin gained 27,491 private-sector jobs in the 12 months from September 2013 through September 2014, a 1.16% increase that ties Wisconsin with Vermont at a rank of 38 among the 50 states in the pace of job creation during that period.

Wisconsin continued to trail the national rate of job creation, as it has since July 2011. The United States created private-sector jobs at a rate of 2.3% in the latest 12-month period, twice Wisconsin's 1.16% rate, the data show.

So sick of Faux and CNN broadcasting recruiting films for ISIS and the KKK

First Faux broadcasts a full length video from ISIS showing the Jordanian F-16 pilot being burned alive. Now CNN gives an interview to the "Imperial Kludd" (really, that's his title) and allows him to express his views on the OU racist fratboy incident to the entire nation.

Why? I mean, I know why, but sheesh.

Robin Vos no longer supports giving the UW autonomy...but still wants huge cuts

Robin "ratface" Vos is at it again:

"But when I see that the regents at its last meeting came out and said that we're going to have no change — no changes to tenure, no change to all of these different things — well, then why are we giving you the autonomy to do nothing with it if you're going to protect the status quo?"

So basically his definition of autonomy for the UW is that they eliminate tenure and shared governance like he said they should. He wants these bastards PUNISHED, dammit!! His vision for the UW is a giant trade school staffed by adjunct instructors who teach "job skills" for $18K/year. The UW system (full disclosure: my employer) will soon become the very first non-profit university system in the nation to do this. Probably not the last though, as I suspect this is coming straight from ALEC. I predict loss of all accreditation within three to five years. All of those millions and millions of dollars in research grants and all of the collaborations with the private sector? Gone. ALL gone- kiss it goodbye. The UW will be gone. Period. But hey, we'll still have the Packers! Way to go Republican voters.

Greetings from Badger country, Iowans

It appears your Republicans are as dumb as ours.

We have Ron "Senator Dumbass" Johnson and you have Ernst.

And now, apparently, Iowa Republicans are just lovin' our Guv, the one and only Squatty Walker. Incredible, no?

Does it surprise anyone here that Walker hasn't pushed death penalty legislation yet?

He's checked all of the other boxes. I honestly thought we'd see a push to enact the death penalty during his first term. It's curious they have been silent on this favorite piece of red meat for the base.

Walker's latest Big and Bold (TM) idea: eliminate the 48 hour waiting period for handgun purchases

From today's Wisconsin State Journal:

Gov. Scott Walker is offering support for a bill that would eliminate Wisconsin’s 48-hour waiting period for handgun purchases, saying he wants the state “to be a leader” on the issue.

“We’ve gone big and bold with a lot of issues. That’s one of those where with new technology, we want to make sure the bad guys don’t get firearms, and the good guys do,” Walker told the National Rifle Association’s news network during an interview Friday at a conservative political conference outside Washington, D.C.

Scotty wants to make sure the good guys can shoot the bad guys. That's all. What could possibly go wrong?

Hey Wisconsin: turns out Scott Walker's just not that into you anymore. (X-posted in Politics 2015)

From yesterday's NYT (emphasis mine):

In an interview, Mr. Walker said he was unconcerned about the appearance of spending so much time and energy courting donors, noting that he expected to do plenty of retail campaigning in the months ahead.

“Oh, I think along the way I’ll be at plenty of dairy events and farm events and factories just like when I was governor,” Mr. Walker said.

Ah yes, when you were Governor. I assume Scotty will now stop drawing a salary, since he apparently no longer sees himself as Governor.

Walker proposes ending bioenergy program he supported during his first term

Just job creatin'... from Milw. Journal-Sentinel

"In an about-face from his first term, Gov. Scott Walker wants to eliminate funding for a University of Wisconsin-Madison renewable energy research center that has played a key role in helping land one of its biggest government grants ever.

In his budget, Walker is proposing to eliminate $8.1 million over two years — a total of 35 positions — from a bioenergy program."
