Mississippi Democrat who didn't even bother to vote wins primary for governor

Disaster struck for Mississippi Democrats on Tuesday night, when an ultra-Some Dude named Robert Gray managed to win the party's nomination for governor. Gray is a truck driver and retired firefighter who spent no money and admitted that he didn't even bother to vote for himself in the primary. Yet despite being utterly unknown, he took 51 percent, while attorney Vicki Slater, who had the backing of whatever remains of the Democratic establishment, wound up with just 30 percent. (Physician Valerie Short finished with 19.)

No one knows how Gray might have managed this—he's so obscure that no one could even find a photo of him online—but it's reminiscent of the bizarre case of Alvin Greene, the unemployed veteran who somehow pulled together the $10,000 filing fee necessary to run for Senate in South Carolina, then blew past former state Rep. Vic Rawl in the Democratic primary back in 2010. Greene, who was invisible on the campaign trail until his unlikely win, became best-known for his unorthodox ideas on stimulating the economy. ("Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an army uniform, air force uniform, and me in my suit.&quot He was, naturally, destroyed in the general election.

The classiest bong ever will get you high as f*ck AND look fabulous with your Swedish furniture

The slow process of mainstreaming cannabis in the USA is an ongoing source of fascination to me as a former, um, enthusiast. I’m aware of a minor reefer civil war going on between bong-ripping hippies who feel that as long-time champions of the green they’re the soul and standard-bearers of pot-dom, versus hash oil vaping professional types who, with some justification, see themselves as the mainstream face of cannabis that’s going to help win the acceptance of legalization that’s eluded the whites-with-dreads brigades, but whom the hippies see as usurpers of weed culture.

But I’ll score the new-school a point on this one: pipe and bong design has long been associated with juvenile eyesore bullshit for addled heads who evidently can’t function without seeing ALL THE COLORS AT ONCE. And while I’m glad such wares are keeping glass-blowers’ books in the black (my soft spot for the independent artisan transcends my perpetual irritation with both hippie culture and so-called “upscale” dicks), the Aura Water Pipe is an overdue injection of refinement into a marketplace that has long catered mostly to people who think rainbow-hued glass skulls are like, the ultimate, bruh. The reality is that to a great many pot users, pot isn’t the lynchpin of an all-consuming, indentity-defining lifestyle of psychedelic art, jam bands, and 420 culture, it’s just pot.

Can we get 100K to go to DC for Bernie?

Imagine if 100,000 of us all traveled to Washington D.C. to hear Bernie Sanders speak! Think of the message that would send! 100,000 people already gathered for Bernie across the nation on July 29, 2015. We can do it again, this time together in D.C.!

What you can do to make this happen:
1) RSVP by clicking Join and select 'Going'
2) Click on Invite to invite friends you know
3) Click on Share to spread the word about this Bernie event!

NOTE: This is only an IDEA at this stage. If we get enough RSVPs (100,000) we will submit to Bernie's campaign team for endorsement and coordination.

(ACTUAL DATE TO BE DETERMINED)

Bernie Sanders Clearly In Pocket Of High-Rolling Teacher Who Donated $300 To His Campaign

BURLINGTON, VT—After accepting a check sent to his campaign office by a local elementary school teacher, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was roundly criticized Monday as being firmly in the pocket of the high-rolling educator who had donated $300. “He might have the reputation of being the people’s candidate, but when your candidacy is effectively bankrolled by the multi-hundred-dollar donation of a fourth-grade teacher, it’s clear who’s really pulling the strings,” said political analyst Peter Mathews, who noted that when a check arrives with a handwritten note that says “Behind you 100 percent, Bernie!” it comes with certain expectations. “He’s already spouting off talking points about supporting unions and increasing funding for education. Where do you think he got those ideas? He might think he’s not influenced by that money, but when someone has deep enough pockets to drop $300, you pick up the phone when they call.” Mathews went on to say he wouldn’t be surprised if Sanders’ strong support for a living wage could be directly traced to the fat $20 contribution he got from a fast-food worker.

Twitter Joins Together To Mock Jeb Campaign's $75 Guacamole Bowl

Republican presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush added a rather expensive guacamole bowl to its campaign store, and the Internet immediately took to mocking it.

The $75 bowl, called the "Guaca Bowle," doesn't even come with the campaign's signature "Jeb!" logo.

The description reads: "Jeb and Columba love whipping up guacamole on Sunday Funday. Now, you can get in on the act with this 'Guaca Bowle.' Jeb’s secret guacamole recipe not included…yet."

If your guacamole needs are not being met with a normal bowl, Amazon has some cheaper options per usual.
