The Political Revolution Is Close To Fruition In Oregon

Many of the progressive wish list issues Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) advocate for as they campaign were achieved in Oregon in the last year.

Oregon's new governor, Kate Brown (D), was in Washington, D.C., last February for a conference of secretaries of state when then-Gov. John Kitzhaber (D) summoned her home. She met him in his office, expecting the governor to tell her he was resigning because of a growing controversy over his fiancee’s role in his administration.

But Kitzhaber had changed his mind about stepping down, and instead asked Brown why she came back from the conference early. She issued a statement at the time calling the interaction "a bizarre and unprecedented situation."

Kitzhaber had yet another change of heart, succumbing to calls for his resignation the day after Brown issued her statement. She had just five days to prepare before being sworn in as his replacement on Feb. 18, 2015.

Since taking office, Democratic majorities in both chambers of the legislature have sent Brown bills addressing such progressive measures as expanding voting rights, access to birth control and background checks for gun purchases, as well as enacting paid sick leave and making community college nearly free for thousands of students.

Brown has tried to balance "fighting for working families and making sure we open the doors of opportunity to every single Oregonian" and treading cautiously because she is acutely aware that voters did not actually elect her into office.

TV show, Superstore, takes on non-unionization

http://www.nbc.com/superstore/video/labor/2987363

Great episode here. Love this show, don't really know why. Perhaps it is America Ferrara, I do love her.....

Both the NBC comedies (Superstore and Telenovela) need to be more comedic. Love the premise of both of them, but they do need to be funnier with richer characters.... But compared to 2 Broke Girls, this is Shakespeare....

Glad both have been renewed for another season.

Trump...some questions

How much does he pay his employees? Say housekeeping and general maintenance? What about tipped employees?

How much did he pay those same employees in 2000, 1990 and 1980?

His companies employ how many illegal workers? African American or Black employees? Hispanic workers?

Does he have any women on his immediate staff? Any people of color be they AA, Hispanic or otherwise?

Can you help me find something? (Offshore taxes uncollected)

I read here a while back about 800 billion dollars of taxes uncollected being offshored. I need a link to that if you can. I have links to the amount of money being offshored, but not the amount of taxes uncollected.

Thanks

Right wing friend sent me this, debunk it if you can (Single payer)....

Each of the names below are renowned left-leaning/liberal/progressive economists speaking about Bernie’s single-payer proposal.

Henry J. Aaron of the Brookings institute supports a single-payer health care system, but called Sanders’ proposal a “fairy tale.” Jared Bernstein, former adviser to Vice President Joe Biden, called Sanders’ cost projections “wishful thinking”. Perhaps most telling, former Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee, famous for his progressivism, colorfully dismissed Sanders’ agenda as “magic flying puppies with winning Lotto tickets tied to their collars.”

As a postscript, it’s worth noting that Vermont, a the ultra-blue state from which Sanders hails, tried to implement a program of socialized medicine similar to what Sanders is proposing. Almost immediately, they were forced to give up on the idea as too expensive to actually work.

As Pat Moynihan used to say “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.”

FBI Finds Trench Of Human Feces At Cultural Site On Oregon Refuge

"Occupiers appear to have excavated two large trenches and an improvised road on or adjacent to grounds containing sensitive artifacts."

Feb 16 (Reuters) - The FBI said it has found a trench of human feces and a road excavated on or next to a sensitive cultural site with artifacts at the Oregon wildlife refuge where armed men staged a standoff with authorities, according to court records filed on Tuesday.

The filing came after the FBI on Friday said it was working with the Burns Paiute Tribe to identify damage to the tribe's artifacts and sacred burial grounds at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge during the six-week occupation.

Evidence teams began processing the crime scenes at the refuge on Saturday, two days after the final occupiers surrendered, and the process will last about three weeks, according to the document submitted in Oregon federal court on Tuesday.

U.S. Attorney Billy Williams of Oregon wrote in the filing that investigators found "significant amounts of human feces" in a trench at an outdoor camping area that was either on or next to a "sensitive cultural site."

"Occupiers appear to have excavated two large trenches and an improvised road on or adjacent to grounds containing sensitive artifacts," he wrote.

Williams also said in the filing - which was a response to occupiers' requests to have their attorneys allowed onto the site - that firearms and explosives were found, and it was feared vehicles and buildings could be booby trapped.

He said he would be willing to allow Bundy's legal team onto the site once authorities are finished processing it and before it is reopened to the public.

You know it's not really classic rock that I hate (Great covers of classic rock in here!)

it is the ubiquitousness of it that bugs the shit out of me. And the fact it negates music (To think that Bob Marley is the ONLY reggae artist is sickening)...and reduces artists to one or two songs, Unless it is Steve ("that non playing mutha fucka"*) Miller, whom they seem to play a lot on the radio, and none from when he was actually cool.

*Miles Davis*

I really like the songs (well some of them any way) and love it when a good band rips them up live like this one, putting their own stamp on it

In a couple of weeks, I am gonna be at a Eagles show played by the great bluegrassy band Poor Man's Whiskey, who have done "Darkside of the Moonshine" , Old and in the Way" and many other classic albums and artists and kill it every time.
