Mahleur National Forest invaded, again

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Concern is growing in a conservative, remote corner of Oregon as people start arriving in a national forest for a Rainbow Family of Living Light annual gathering, a counter-culture get-together expected to draw thousands.
Officials with the Malheur National Forest said this week that around 600 Rainbow Family members are already camped at a gathering site near Flagtail Meadow and that between 10,000 and 30,000 are likely arriving by July 4, when the multi-day event peaks with a prayer for world peace.
People with small children, those with disabilities and senior citizens were among those who wrote to the event's Facebook page, discussing the site near the town of John Day in eastern Oregon, accessibility and bus routes.
Some commentators expressed concern about keeping the place hygienic.
"Bury your s--t, bury your dog's s--t, bury your baby's s--t," one person wrote.
Another asked what the "pants policy" is, and got dozens of responses, including that they're optional.
The U.S. Forest Service said that as of Tuesday, it had made two arrests, and handed out 31 warnings and three violation notices.
The Forest Service said its resource specialists are making sure that kitchens, peace circles, and latrines are located appropriately.
Ahead of last year's event in Vermont in the Green Mountain National Forest, there was a lot of concern about whether the Rainbows would pick up after themselves once the gathering was over. They carved campsites out of the wilderness, but once the bulk of the Rainbows left, a number stay behind, in some cases for weeks, to clean up.

RIP Rosalie Sorrels.

I am sorry to report that our mother did pass away last night. She was surrounded with love and music, and is free from all the pain. Our mother has sung this song at the wakes of many of her friends and family, now we share her song in her honor. We will be planning a memorial service in Boise to allow mom's many friends to say goodbye, and we (the family) will let all know when this will be after we have had a chance to grieve the loss of our beloved mother. We are very fortunate to have so many friends through mom's work, and it helps a lot! This is sad news, but we have prepared ourselves for this too. We love you all and thank you for the continued love and support throughout are lives. Keep on Rocking, It's a Beautiful Boat.

Very Much Love Holly, Shelley, and Kevin
❤️❤️❤️

Sad, but what a life. That voice those songs. She fought hard and told the tales of the people.

Athletes you hated their entire career (but respect them secretly)?

The category Tom Brady fits in to IMO

Athletes you hated their entire career (and post career)?

Pete fucking Rose for me. Hated him as a player and really hate him after his playing career ended. Typical Republican douche.

Rosalie Sorrells. Share love and light.......

From her family

It is with a massively heavy heart that I need to let you all know that our beloved Rosalie is on her last go round. I have known this was coming for a while now, but out of respect for family and friends, I have not shared this. But now, she and her family have decided the time has come to let you know. I will share more later, but at this time, please send Love & Light to Rosalie and her loved ones.
"When my wandering Soul shall rest
And my last song gets sung I’ll find the brightest and the best
On my way back home All my long lost friends and lovers
Once again they will be found And I’ll kiss all their shining faces
On My Last Go Round
For I have stumbled lost and wild Onto sacred ground
Oh I have loved just like a child On My Last Go Round"
-from Rosalie's original, "Last Go Round"

What is The Rump doing to protect this country?

He has known about Russian interference in our elections. No matter if he, or his cabal, were involved or not. What they did is an act of war. So far, he has done nothing but pander to Russia by returning their hacker, spy compounds and considered removing sanctions.

North Korea has fired missle after missle and he hasn't even uttered a word about the most recent, multi rocket display. He has pretty much left it up to China, without actually doing anything to keep NK in line.

We can run, but we can't hide from it (Grateful Dead)

Never meant more than it does today. From the Dead's later years.

We don't own this place, though we act as if we did,
It's a loan from the children of our children's kids.
The actual owners haven't even been born yet.

Bur we never tend the garden and rarely we pay the rent,
Some of it is broken and the rest of it is bent
Put it all on plastic and I wonder where we'll be when the bills hit.

We can run,
But we can't hide from it.
Of all possible worlds,
We only got one:
We gotta ride on it.
Whatever we've done,
We'll never get far from what we leave behind,
Baby, we can run, run, run, but we can't hide.
Oh no, we can't hide.

I'm dumpin' my trash in your back yard
Makin' certain you don't notice really isn't so hard
You're so busy with your guns and all of your excuses to use them.

Well, it's oil for the rich and babies for the poor,
We got everyone believin' that more is more,
If a reckoning comes, maybe we will know what to do then.

All these complications seem to leave no choice,
I heard the tongues of billion speak with just one voice,
Saying, "just leave all the rest to me,
I need it worse than you, you see."
And then I heard,
The sound of one child crying.

Today I went walking in the amber wind,
There's a hole in the sky where the light pours in
I remembered the days when I wasn't afraid of the sunshine.

But now it beats down on the asphalt land
Like a hammering blow from god's left hand
What little still grows cringes in the shade like a bad vine.
