You know it occurs to me

That people outraged that an NFL Football player's peaceful protest is so disrespectful to veterans ought to be asking why the NFL charged the DoD over $780k for "salute the troop" tributes last year...

Selective outrage is a white folk super power - It can destroy minds in a single thought, usually their own

I have a couple of thoughts regarding Colin Kaepernick

If this is not the proper place, let me know and I'll delete.

As a retired NCO and a scion of Appalachian white trash, my 1st reaction was anger. How dare he blah blah blah...

What can I say, I have knees, sometimes they jerk in reaction.

On the other hand, my thinking self has a different take on the National Anthem and protest and the perception of protest:

The national Anthem is a symbol of a country that I love despite knowing how flawed it is. It grates on my sensibilities when that symbol (or the flag) is slighted even when I understand and sympathize with the protester.

However:

I won't let my anger cause me to forget that a major goal of protest is to cause an emotional reaction - Or that the most often cited reason we have a military in the first place is to keep us "free" and that freedom includes the freedom to piss off conservative white people.

But here is a thought that I've not heard that I wanted to share. Mr. Kaepernick put his money where his mouth is.
His protest will cost him millions in earnings over the course of his life.

Listen. A metric shit ton of people live for the excuse to hate wealthy blacks, whether they are athletes or became wealthy in show business or business business - Doesn't matter, a lot of these people have a hair trigger temper regarding POC in general but well to do POC really gravel their ass.

They'll boycott any company the doesn't sever ties with him. They'll protest at public appearances for years to come.

Whether I agree or not, I have to respect a man willing to, as the old expression says "take what you want, then pay for it"

Evan McMullin - Neocon Ratfucking Redux

So why is Evan McMullin in the race?

The Republicans against Trump needn't bother really. Trump is on the way to losing and losing big and they know it.

This continues the "Never Trump" movement that Bloody Bill Kristoll has been pushing since forever.

So here comes an unknown with an impeccable Neocon resume; CIA, Goldman Sachs and adviser to the Republican House Leadership.

Bloody Bill is "consulted" and his ass is kissed. This drone's connections to the old line Neocon faction are highlighted and the show hits the road.

But why do it at all?

This is a PNAC ratfucking redux.

He is not needed to defeat Trump and all the Republicans know it. Hillary will score more than 310 electoral college votes no matter what else happens.

This is part of the upcoming con job that will attempt to paint the Clinton landslide as Illegitimate.

It is an scam meant to make it easier for the "LIBERAL PRESS" to discount the voice of Democrats and to continue the false equivalency game during Hillary's administration.

They are attempting to lay out a long con. A con that can be used in congress (and peddled in the press to make it seem believable) to limit, delay and minimize programs put forward in Hillary's term of office

Too good to be true?

The statistician from "none of the above" blog, Prof. Hubbard disagrees with Nate Silver, and is not shy about sharing his opinion.

If I had some small disagreement with Silver's numbers, I might send him snide messages on Twitter, which he would likely ignore. The thing is, my numbers don't say a small difference. He said Trump was leading early this week and after the convention he now says it's 51%-49% for Clinton.

To repeat, I don't call my numbers a prediction, just a snapshot of what polls say now.

The snapshot says 99% to 1% for Clinton.

Let me quote Glengarry Glen Ross.

"You think I am fucking with you? I am not fucking with you."

http://abovenota.blogspot.com/2016/07/clinton-vs-trump-31-july-2016-100-days.html

It is 100 days from the elections and anything is possible in an infinite universe - and I like hearing things I want to be true as much as the next person - so I am pinching salt all over this article.

But I'd be lying if I said it didn't cheer me right up.
