So let's look at the format and time allotment for the debates.

If they stick to the normal tv half hour format, there will be 22 minutes of material along with 8 minutes of commercials per 30 minutes.
So, in two hours, there will be 88 minutes of debate time.
That time will be shared by 10 candidates, 5 moderators (why so many?), and possibly some audience member questions live or via social media submissions.

So, here’s a scenario:
Moderator Rachel Maddow (known for her very long opening segments):
“So, before I get to our first question for one of the candidates, I think it’s quite pertinent and very relevant to look at the history of debate in our country, and for that matter on the planet. Did you know that in the Garden of Eden that Adam had quite a debate with the serpent about the type of apples 🍎 that were used in the tempting process. Should they be red delicious or what about green apples 🍏? Now, I myself, and my partner Susan prefer Granny Smith when baking pies for the holidays. And, yet, I digress. The true traditional role of a debate....

Moderator Lester Holt (NBC News)
“Um, Rachel, I know you are the new wunderkind, but as Senior member here, I thought I was supposed to take the lead. And besides that, you didn’t even introduce the candidates before you launched in on stuff that nobody...

Rachel:
“Actually, Lester, I won the raffle to take lead and it was agreed that we wouldn’t introduce all of the candidates because of time constraints and would just identify them with lower third graphics of their names when they speak.

Moderator Jose Diaz Balart (Univision)
“Ray-shell, about theez...we were assured that there would be closed captioning in Spanish across all networks..but my Aunt just called my cell phone complaining that she can’t understand anything you say and she’s wondering if that handsome Julián Castro will get as much time as all of the gringos or like all Latinos be shoved aside as usual”.

Moderator Savannah Guthrie
“Well, our producers are telling us it’s time for our first commercial break. We hope you are getting to really know the candidates positions on the issues”. Coming up, weather with Al and a cooking segment with the candidates. Wait, is that correct?....”

Moderator Chuck Todd
“ Hey...When do I get to ask an irrelevant Captain Obvious question that I’m known for”.

Mueller or McGahn could be a great national hero.

If either one of them came before the American people and spilled their guts, they would go down in history as true patriotic heroes.
Of course, they won’t because of Republican ties, fears of retribution, etc. etc.

And when they don’t, the American people will never truly heal no matter what happens in the 2020 election.
It’s truly a shame that we don’t have a John Dean Watergate type patriot somewhere in all of Trump world.

Did Biden catch a break missing Warren in the debate draw?

I think he might have.
I know he will have the other top polling leaders on stage with him.
However, I think Elizabeth is the one who might have come at him directly on banking and other issues.

Other than your favorite, who do you most want to see debate?

I’m excited to see how Pete performs on a big stage.
I’m also interested to see if Warren and Sanders challenge each other.

Today is Trumps birthday. What birthday wish/greeting do you have?

Here’s mine:
Resign and move to Mar-a-Lago right after a nice stay at Fort Leavenworth.

Once we get our nominee, will either Obama go on campaign trail?

I think they would both be a tremendous help to our nominee.

Do you think any candidates have talked to Pelosi re Impeachment?

I’ll bet a few have had off the record talks about it.

Ok, gang, speculation game time. Wanna play?

The DU undecideds now stands at 38%.

Guess when you think that will drop below 30%.
I say after the first debate. Around July 1.

From Pocahontas to the Professor with a Plan.

No matter which Dem you are supporting, I think we all have to be so proud of how Elizabeth Warren has been conducting her campaign.
So many of the political pundits said her campaign was over because she had “botched” the whole Native American attacks from Trump.
But, she has instead come on strong with detailed plans and ways to pay for so many policies.
She’s made it difficult on the chattering class to criticize her.
Besides being brilliant, She has boundless energy. A wonderful smile. Loves pressing the flesh and taking pictures and interacting with the public.
I’m not quite ready to declare her my first choice (at least until the debates), but I do want to say how impressed I am with her.
She makes me proud to be a Democrat.
Go Liz! Persist!!

Does Biden's religion matter ?

Morning Joe talking today about Biden being Catholic and that’s why he struggles with the abortion question. Joe Scarborough said if Joe Biden moves toward abortion on demand with no restrictions that it would hurt him in the general election with Catholics.
I’m not so sure about that.
We now have 5 members of SCOTUS that are Catholic.
23% of Americans identify as Catholic.
