Republicans have woken up to the fact that they have a real race on their hands in Georgia: A GOP super PAC just launched $1 million ad campaign attacking Democrat Jon Ossoff and it's ... really weird.
The special congressional election happening next month has turned into a high stakes battle and could be an early indicator of the intensity of the resistance to Trump, but apparently all the GOP could dig up on Ossoff is that he dressed up as Han Solo in college.
This is not a joke. Somehow, this is an actual GOP attack ad. And even if it is strange, it's probably just the first of many millions that will be spent trying to beat down Ossoff.
Fight back against the GOP attacks. Can you chip in $5 to put Democrat Jon Ossoff over the top?
Here's why this election is so important:
Ossoff is running in a red district where Donald Trump is deeply unpopularTrump's one-point victory here last November was a stunning 23-point collapse from Mitt Romney's showing in 2012. A Democratic victory here would send shockwaves through Congress, confirming the GOP's deepest fears that Trump is sinking their party, and could be an early indicator of huge Democratic wave in 2018.
Want to replace Trump's anti-Obamacare hatchet man with a Democrat? Then chip in $5 to Jon Ossoff right now.
Keep fighting,

Is there a central place where one can find a running tally of Trump's expenses via Airforce One?
If there isn't it would be great if there were. A web site or a Facebook page (or both) with nothing on it but a bar graph of the travel costs of, say, our last 5 presidents to date. E.g., Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump as of 2 months into their terms, updated each week.
Does it exist?
Can anyone do this?
So it could be a good thing if congress launches an investigation into Trump Tower tapping.
If it happened, it wasn't authorized by the president (illegal). It might have happened if the FBI was tracking attacks on our country by foreign agencies, or illegal business dealings. in fact I did see a report of a FISA warrant on someone else in Trump Tower (although I wonder how anyone would have found out about it.)
ANYhoo.... a congressional investigation might open the floodgates to what the FBI does, in fact know, is investigating re Trump and the Russians.
The best guide I've seen through the Trump/Russia maze.
This provides a time line, starting in 2013, of Trump related events involving Russia.

Has anyone on the right ever...
... written about the need to understand Bernie supporters? To understand the left in general? Has anyone on the right bemoaned the polarization in our politics?
Anyone except Olympia Snow of Maine who resigned because it was intolerable?

I've posted about this site before. Why?
1 - Not because I have a personal stake in it. No idea who runs it, etc.
2 - I like to share good political stuff on DU.
3 - I have a very strong interest in Dems getting active at the downest, downest down ballot level. We've got to take our country back! So I want to encourage DU members to get interested if they're not already. This place is a very easy place to get unexpected info about what's going on around you.
4 - I want to support web sites that encourage this sort of down ballot activity. To that end, I'll also plug ItStarts.Today
Do any of you have suggestions for other organizations/web sites that are facilitating down ballot activity?
P.s. Since I'm on the topic I'll share the silver lining behid Greg Cava's loss for the CT senate seat on Tuesday. In a district that hasn't gone Democratic since 1891 (NOT a typo), and where he lost by 33% points in the previous election, he lost by only 11% in this one. So next time we need to just get 5+ points to flip the seat. I don't even live in CT, but adopted this race.
GO TEAM!
Any stats on how many non-Trump supporters watched the speech?
I'm guessing there was more boycotting going on than normal, hence the polls would have been more skewed in a positive response direction than normal.
A good way to keep up with the really important news.
I'm talking down ballot. State legislatures. Redistricting lawsuits. Straight facts. If you wish you can get a daily e-mail that contains factual election-based stories. Today was about the special elections in CT and about a redistricting fight in Virginia (the Supreme Court voted 7 to 1 to reject a lower court's upholding of gerrymandering in the state. It's been sent back for them to think again.)
Anyway, this is where we have to focus our energies. We don't have to wait 4 years to do stuff!!!

The CT special state senate election. Definitely a sliver lining.
Yesterday, it went for the Republican again 55-45. That's an eleven point swing. Eleven points.
So between now and the next election we work for only a 5+ swing!!!!!
