Were these people born with no shame? Is there a shame gene they lack? No, they're simply shameless liars. If the House gun bill makes it through the Senate--with not a single repug vote--I predict they'll take credit for it.

WSJ has new dump tape.
He pressured the lead investigator for the GA Secretary of State's office to look for fraud in the election. It's another link in the conspiracy to commit felony that could form the basis of a racketeering charge in Fulton County. DA Wallis would have to prove that there were at least two illegal acts in the attempt to commit the same crime--in this case, interfering in the presidential election in GA. That's how I understand the situation, at this point.

Police equals organized crime in Minneapolis?
Writer Lauren Floyd has an article in Daily Kos about the protests in Minneapolis as the trial of Derek Chauvin gets started. Of the protestors, she says, "In that effort, demonstrators also sought to bring attention to the more than 470 other people killed by Minneapolis police." A response to the article notes that those deaths occurred since 1984. I wonder if the Mafia has killed that many people since 1984. Maybe so. Or, maybe if they had, there would be a major crime commission and multiple arrests and convictions. At any rate, if it's true that Minneapolis police have killed 470 black people since 1984, I'd say that comes pretty close to qualifying as organized crime.
This trial should be a doozy. If a jury finds Chauvin guilty, the police force will react. If Chauvin is found not guilty, Minneapolis will react. Let's keep abreast of developments.
Un oh. Racketeering?
Reuters reports: "Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has enlisted the help of Atlanta lawyer John Floyd, who wrote a national guide on prosecuting state racketeering cases. Floyd was hired recently to “provide help as needed” on matters involving racketeering, including the Trump investigation and other cases, said the source, who has direct knowledge of the situation."
"Floyd’s appointment signals that racketeering could feature prominently in the investigation."

Manchin signals willingness to reform filibuster.
"Manchin told Todd that he opposes eliminating the filibuster outright because he believes doing so would suppress the minority party’s input. However, invoking the procedure should be more 'painful,' he said.
'Now, if you want to make it a little bit more painful, make him stand there and talk, I’m willing to look at any way we can,' Manchin said. 'But I’m not willing to take away the involvement of the minority.' "
