I just saw Joe Biden! Sort of....

I heard he was coming to Memorial Regional Park not too far from my house so hubby & I drove up there but we were turned away at the gate because they said it was by invitation only. I knew that, but I tried....Anyway, so then we went up the street, parked the car in the Chili's parking lot and stood by the road until his motorcade came by.
I waved, I blew kisses and somewhere in that black SUV Joe felt the love!

Cyber Command has sought to disrupt the world's largest botnet

hoping to to reduce its potential impact on the election.

(Washington Post) In recent weeks, the U.S. military has mounted an operation to temporarily disrupt what is described as the world’s largest botnet — one used also to drop ransomware, which officials say is one of the top threats to the 2020 election.

U.S. Cyber Command’s campaign against the Trickbot botnet, an army of at least 1 million hijacked computers run by Russian-speaking criminals, is not expected to permanently dismantle the network, said four U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity. But it is one way to distract them at least for a while as they seek to restore operations.

The effort is part of what Gen. Paul Nakasone, the head of Cyber Command, calls “persistent engagement,” or the imposition of cumulative costs on an adversary by keeping them constantly engaged. And that is a key feature of CyberCom’s activities to help protect the election against foreign threats, officials said. “Right now, my top priority is for a safe, secure, and legitimate 2020 election,” Nakasone said in August in a set of written responses to Washington Post questions. “The Department of Defense, and Cyber Command specifically, are supporting a broader ‘whole-of-government’ approach to secure our elections.”

The only way “you’re going to be completely successful against cyber criminals is to lock them up in jail,” said Arena. Still, CyberCom’s action is worthy, U.S. officials said. “At a time when ransomware is eating the world, this is an operation against one of the biggest and most active threat streams,” said one official. “Is this permanent? Of course not.” But any effort to degrade the botnet should be applauded, the official said. (Read More)

Nancy Pelosi: 'We're going to be talking about the 25th Amendment'

(NBC News) WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says she plans to talk about the 25th Amendment, which outlines presidential transfer of power procedures, on Friday.

Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press conference at the Capitol Thursday to come to the Hill “tomorrow” because she said, “We're going to be talking about the 25th Amendment.”

In an interview immediately after her press conference, Pelosi suggested that the president may not be thinking clearly because of the drugs he has taken while being treated for the disease.

“The president is, shall we say, in an altered state right now,” Pelosi said on Bloomberg TV. “I don’t know how to answer for that behavior.”

She continued, "There are those who say when you are on steroids or have COVID-19, there may be some impairment of judgment.”

Doctor Warns Trump's Coronavirus Treatment Can Cause Psychosis, Mania

(HuffPost) Dr. Megan Ranney told CNN that the steroid dexamethasone can cause “mental health side effects.” She also called some of Trump’s behavior “concerning.” A doctor told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Sunday that the medication cocktail currently being given to President Donald Trump to treat coronavirus could have some serious side effects, including psychosis, mania and delirium.

“It can cause psychosis. It can cause delirium. It can cause mania,” Ranney said. “I would never want to say the president is experiencing steroid-induced psychosis, but it is certainly concerning to see some of his actions today in the wake of this potentially deadly diagnosis and infectious disease.”

Many people — including medical experts and people who say they have taken dexamethasone themselves — have shared what they know about the drug on social media. Stanford Professor Michele Dauber wrote a Twitter thread about her experience with the drug, claiming that it “seriously messes with your mind” and that she “could not wait to get off it.” “In addition to warning of mood changes my surgeon told me it makes you feel like I could bike up Mt. Tam or run a marathon right after brain surgery when I still had staples in my head,” she wrote.

Dr. Paul Summergrad, the chair of psychiatry at Tufts University, tweeted that when “added to the risk of COVID related neuropsychiatric symptoms/severe delirium,” the drug’s ability to cause “frank mania, or more severe depressive states” should prompt the press “to be asking the medical team how they are formally monitoring his mental status.” Trump did not help those already questioning his mental state when he sent a series of aggressive, all-caps tweets on Monday, beginning around 6 a.m. (Read More)
