Boeing is in trouble if this is true....

Last week, an anonymous whistleblower — who appears to have access to Boeing’s manufacturing records of the work done assembling the specific Alaska Airlines jet that suffered the blowout — on an aviation website separately provided many additional details about how the door plug came to be removed and then mis-installed.

“The reason the door blew off is stated in black and white in Boeing’s own records,” the whistleblower wrote. “It is also very, very stupid and speaks volumes about the quality culture at certain portions of the business.”

The self-described Boeing insider said company records show four bolts that prevent the door plug from sliding up off the door frame stop pads that take the pressurization loads in flight, “were not installed when Boeing delivered the airplane.” the whistleblower stated. “Our own records reflect this.”

And they didn't need this either. Front wheel of a 757 falling off before take off.

Germany is beginning to wake up

To the threat from the AfD. Alternative for Deutschland is a fascist group. They had a meeting with, effectively Nazis, they want to deport millions including citizens. A huge protest in Munich. Another in Berlin.

"FRANKFURT/BERLIN, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets across towns and cities in Germany this weekend as the country enters a second week of nationwide protests against the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
Demonstrations have gained momentum after reports emerged from investigative news website Correctiv of a meeting of right-wing extremists in Potsdam at which migration policies including mass deportations of people of foreign origin were discussed."

MAde pasticcio for the first time in a while

One problem I have is the amount for 3 people. And I have limited freezer space.

This version called for separating two eggs. The yolks go into thre bechamel topping. The whites get added to the cooked noodles along with some crumbled feta. The idea is that the whites will help hold the noodle together when baked. Te recipe also calls for you to try to line up the noodles as much as posible.
I think it did help a bit when serving to have the noodles lined up and the feta added to the flavor.

A result of the push for big SUVs

Americans are getting priced out of cars. The push by car companies for big trucks and SUVs as daily drivers has jacked up costs. The cost of operation is also much higher for these things also. Fuel, insurance, interest payments, registration, and maintenance all go up. Creating a debt cycle. Overal pollution levels climb also.

Sorry about the ad barrage.

https://www.newsweek.com/americans-can-no-longer-afford-their-cars-1859929

In 2023—a year during which inflation slowed down to the point that the Federal Reserve decided to stop hiking rates—new car prices rose by 1 percent to an average of $50,364, while used car prices fell by only 2 percent to an average of $31,030.

But as things stand, cars are still really expensive for many Americans. Just 10 percent of new car listings are currently priced below $30,000, according to CoPilot. Things are not much better in the used car market, where only 28 percent of listings are currently priced below $20,000.

According to an October report by Market Watch, Americans needed an annual income of at least $100,000 to afford a car, at least if they're following standard budgeting advice, which says you shouldn't spend more than 10 percent of your monthly income on car-related expenses.

That means that more than 60 percent of American households currently cannot afford to buy a new car, based on Census data. For individuals, the numbers are even worse, with 82 percent of people below the $100,000 line.

Vehicle size makes them more dangerous

No real surprise here. The long trend towards monster SUV and Pickups is killing people who aren't in the vehicles. Also more dangerous for people who decide to keep a small car. Deadly by design, and that doesn't coiunt the increased pollution from exhaust, brake dust and tire wear.

The original is in French. But my windows or google translater works well on it.

Vulnerable users and occupants of small cars risk paying the price

In recent years, cars have become heavier, taller and more powerful. While passengers on board are increasingly safer in the event of an accident, the same cannot be said for passengers in smaller vehicles and vulnerable users. Thus, in a collision between two cars, one of which weighs at least twice as much as the other, the occupants of the light vehicle are 3 times more likely to suffer serious injuries than when the two vehicles have a similar mass. Likewise, the risk of fatal injuries for a pedestrian or cyclist hit by a car whose hood is 10 cm higher than average increases by 30%. These are the conclusions of a new study by the Vias institute which examined all the accidents that occurred between 2017 and 2021.

Vehicle mass
Vehicle mass has both a protective and “aggressive” effect: occupants of heavier vehicles are less likely to be seriously or fatally injured, while their opponents are more likely to suffer serious or fatal injuries.

Let's take the example of a collision between a 1600 kg car and a lighter 1300 kg car. The risk of fatal injuries:

decreases by 50% for occupants of the heaviest car;
increases by almost 80% for occupants of the lighter car.

Duomo Milan

A gray day dodging raindrops. Still too crowded to wait and get in on a queazy stomach. This is one huge building. It is the 5th largest Christian church in the world. Has a huge number, 3,400 statues, 135 gargoyls and 700 figures.
There is also a very accurate sundail inside along with, supposedly, one of the nails from Christs crucifixtion.

They are also doing lots of restoration outside so the place was covered in scafolding.

Heading towards it

At dusk with the lighting.

The main door.

From a 7th story bar across the street.

One of the windows behind the altar.

If you know your bible stories you might know what these reliefs represent.

The blood drops are a nice touch

Milan Christmas market

Had a couple of days in Milan. Unfortunately we ended up iwth stomach bugs caught before the trip. We lost weight because we hardly ate anything there. BooHoo.
The markets a a bit different than in Munich plus they were still open after Christmas. Ours shut down on Christmas eve for the most part. The stalls are built to a different escetic also. I didn't find any in areas outside of the Duomo section. Not saying there aren't any but illness restricted how far I was willing to go.

Sure is exciting here.

Some of my relatives
