This happened in my area yesterday
Very scary .......
This man, whom authorities described as "troubled" and "seeing ghosts" ..... shot a utility worker yesterday, claiming that he believed people were eavesdropping on him through the utility company.
What's really frightening is that this guy, who has been jailed 14 times since 1997 for theft and making terroristic threats, and is also on disability .... was able to get his hands on numerous guns, which were in his vehicle, along with armor-piercing ammunition! According to the article, police are investigating how he was able to get his weapons, since he isn't allowed to have them. !!!
We MUST do a better job keeping death weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill!

My wonderful husband
is out in the unheated garage changing the oil in my car this morning, so I thought I'd fix a big pot of minestrone for him for lunch.
and, I was reminded of this great song! Life is a Minestrone!
Trouble for the GOP in Ohio
From the WaPo.
Ohio workers love Trumps tariffs, and thats making trouble for the GOP
AKRON, Ohio President Trumps recent spate of tariffs are popular among his working-class supporters here. But his aggressive trade moves could help put a key Senate seat out of reach for his fellow Republicans, undermining the GOPs fight to keep control of Congress in November.
Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is running for reelection partly by touting his support for the presidents aggressive trade strategy and trumpeting his longtime opposition to the North American Free Trade Agreement and other trade deals Trump rails against. Thats largely a boon in Ohio, where Trump won by 8 percentage points in 2016.
For Browns likely Republican opponent, Rep. James B. Renacci, Trumps trade moves are a growing political headache, forcing the candidate to explain his own past support for trade pacts and his concerns about the tariffs.

I saw a caravan of people going to Sam's Club today!
or maybe it was an Econoline van .......
cause they were Amish!
Straight out of the Republican Playbook
Reward Industry over Science and the Public Good
Hire Lobbyists for Top Positions who lobbied against the Department they are supposed to run
If it costs money to fix, say the science hasn't been proven.
I know, I know, this is nothing new. But it continues to infuriate me!

Bark softly and .....
I wonder if
any of Trump's nutty followers who call themselves a militia are traveling to the Mexican border as we speak, with their stash of guns and ammo, to "help out" against this caravan of thousands of criminals!
Happy Dyngus Day!
I'm only half Polish, but some of these things sound a wee bit familiar.....
