U.S. Fertility Just Hit a 30 Year Low
"Births in the U.S. fell to a multi-decade low last year, according to data from the National Center for Health Statistics released this week. The provisional estimate shows 3.85 million births in the U.S. in 2017, the lowest tally since 1987, and an overall fertility rate of 1.76 births per woman, the lowest since 1978."

I wonder if Draconian family leave policies, stagnant wages, unaffordable health insurance, and skyrocketing child care costs has anything to do with this?
Does anyone know....
the best way to store unused plant seeds so that you can use them next year? Freeze them? Store in a cool dry place? etc.
Thanks in advance!
My Best Friend's Girl
I've seen a few of these bumper stickers lately
"I'm Catholic and I Vote!"
wtf are they trying to say?
I don't understand it and I was brought up Catholic, although I'm one of those "lapsed" ones now.
Overheard in the grocery store today....
I was in the canned food aisle. An older couple shopping nearby. The woman says "Maybe we should by a couple of canned things for the food drive." The man replies, "I already feed the poor. It's called paying taxes."
Ohtani is the real deal
His stats have been insanely good so far.

Are you a regular public library patron?
Some folks leave the strangest things inside their books, used as bookmarks, apparently.

Keeping it in the family
Indians' shortstop Fransisco Lindor churned out four extra-base hits on Saturday, including a pair of home runs, to help power the Tribe to a 6-2 victory over the Royals at Progressive Field.
Lindor became the first Indians leadoff hitter to have four extra-base hits in a game since July 3, 1964, when Tito Francona -- father of Tribe manager Terry Francona -- accomplished the same feat against the White Sox.
The "Cabinet of Termites"
Describes Trump's cabinet that is eroding government from within.
"It is the latest piece of evidence that President Trumps appointees are using their positions not to improve life for Americans, but to take apart decades of regulation and customs that make our lives easier, safer, healthier and better.
This is, in one sense, a long-standing play from the Republican playbook. It was President Ronald Reagan, after all, who said in his inaugural speech in 1981: Government is not the solution to the problem. Government is the problem.
But the Trump administration is taking this to a whole new level. His Cabinet and other appointees are like termites, burrowing inside the government structure, taking it apart from within, and causing foundation rot and damage as they go about their work."
