What would healing look like?

Republicans want us to “heal.” Ok. But what would that look like? Here are some ideas.

First, every Republican Senator and Representative should admit that they were wrong about Trump. They should say, “I was wrong about Trump. I should never have supported him. I was wrong. Sorry.” No weasel words.

That’s not going to happen, of course. What Republicans mean when they say we should come together as a country is that Democrats should abandon their ideals and ideas for a better democray and a better future for every citizen and instead, adopt Republican positions on everything. But I digress.

What do you think “healing” would look like?

Ready for the next putsch?

In a thoughtful piece over on DailyKos, one Dratier write:

For four years, our government has been lax to the point of anarchy. Our leaders have lost the meaning of discipline, focus, coordination and cooperation, as our supreme leader golfed, cursed, insulted, ranted, reversed himself, and self-praised to his heart’s content.

As a result of this moral and mental laxity, our Capitol is not just a lame duck, but a sitting duck, as Wednesday’s events proved.

We saw that law enforcement authorities can protect the Capitol when BLM demonstrated peacefully there. Barriers and personnel were everywhere evident and overwhelming force was waiting in the shadows. Never mind that they weren’t needed, BLM not being a terrorist organization. The place was locked down solid. Call it the gold standard for suppressing violence simply by being adequately prepared.

The question now is, will they be that prepared again? Leadership of the main forces involved has been removed. Right wing sympathizers have not.

What will we see as inauguration draws nearer.

Watching Fox: They're calling them rioters

Never watch Fox but thought I'd see what they're saying. Martha McCallum is the news reader and has Kevin McCarthy on.

Kevin McCarthy said, "we've seen the worst of America today." Now saying "we're so much better than what happened today"
"Saddest moment I've ever had as a member of Congress.

But he wouldn't criticize Trump. And he defends the challengers

Rand Paul calls it a mob, but compares it to the shooting at the congressional baseball game. Then says that people thinking Pence or the Congress could overturn the election by challenging the electoral college vote, "is an absurdity."

I'm getting that even Fox and the foxiest Republicans are running from all this. I hope that the agents of justice chase them down and give them what they deserve, at the very least, 14th amendment them.

Trump won't address Magyars..

Trump won’t address his brownshirts until it’s clear they’re leaving because he knows the won’t leave just because he tells them too. Their blood is up. They’re uncontrollable. But when they do start to leave, because they’re hungry or whatever, he’ll speak up. Then he’ll take credit for cooling the situation. Watch.

They let them storm the Capitol?

Who else is pissed that DC and the other authorities were so lax in their planning, so lacking in imagination that they allowed Trumps minions to storm the Captol?

These actions on the trumpists parts are just too damn analogous to the way the Nazis came into power. It’s way past time to call these Nazis Nazis. They are.

Can you imagine what would have happened at the Capitola if it was a bunch of anti-fascists stormed the place?

Can you imaging what would have happened if these were all black and brown people?

This is really screwed.

Favorite moment of the count so far...

Just before the couning began, the masked senator or congressperson who was to begin was tapping the microphone and asking whether it was on. We could hear him. It was on.

Somewhere off screen there was a House of Representatives IT/AV guy with a bad haircut and maybe a piercing and tats, grimacing and giving that frustrated IT/AV guy look that says, “yes, of course it’s on, you idiot!”

Trump 3D Chess?

Only because I’m paranoid about whatever can happen, but what if this was all Trumpian 3D chess powered by smarter folks in the room? What if Trump’s much smarter puppet masters have gamed this all out and decided that the best way to get Magat/Republican’s to the poll was to pull an even more outrageous stunt that would provide them with an even more outrageous way to “stick it the Dems”?

(I know, I know, crazy talk, but I said Paranoid at the top)

I’m newly in a place where I too regularly hear that’s the main motivation behind the (dare I say it) existential point of view of the people around me. They just want to screw the snowflakes. Live or die? Not my main issue.

And they face-to-face call me a snowflake—-for wearing a mask. Sigh ...
